When you see this colorful sign on Old Route 234 in Manassas you know you are approaching the Prince William County Fairgrounds, home of the largest county fair in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The fair opened in 1949 to promote and publicize the agriculture of what was then rural Prince William County.
Recent newspaper articles report that major changes and improvements have been made to both the facilities and programs. According to the fair's website, "Upwards of 90,000 to 100,000 spectators are expected to pass through the turnstiles this year".
