Facebook has new new social applications, and it will show what you are reading, what videos you watch – lots of cool stuff, if you WANT everyone to know. But sometimes, you might not want to broadcast to the world that you watched a silly video! Great news! You can adjust the settings accordingly.
WARNING – As of this writing (in May 2012) Facebook has not released “Timeline” to mobile devices. This means that if you are looking at Facebook from an iPad (for example) you will not see many of the items below. You need to login on a PC to be able to take full advantage of the new Social Settings!
For apps that you’re already using, head to “Account Settings” from the drop-down menu next to “Home” at the top-right of your display. Go to the “Apps” tab.
Now click “Edit” to the right of the relevant app. In the box that opens you’ll see “Posts on your behalf – Who can see posts this app makes for you on your Facebook timeline?”
Use the drop-down menu to select “Only me.” You can also follow this same process as you sign up to new apps.
Another great addition to Facebook (that could be great for Real Estate Agents) is the ability to save photos to your MAP! Simply click on the “Map” section in the little boxes under your Cover Photo. A Map will show up, and you need to click on the top right hand side of the Map Screen, where you will see “Add Photos.”
Your uploaded photos will now show in “Comic Strip” format across the top of your map – and you can add all of those houses that you’ve sold to a map of your area! Simply add Location!
You can also add the pictures of the Dog Wash you helped with, the Relay for Life Team you were on – all of the things you’d like for folks to see, and realize what a local expert you are!
When you’ve finished adding a location to the pics you want to geotag, click “Done Adding” to return to your normal map view. Once you’ve added locations to images, back in your map page you’ll see new pin markers. If you click on the markers, you’ll see the relevant image. You can also do this as you ADD pictures to Facebook – so if you have houses that you’ve sold, or events that you haven’t added the pictures to Facebook yet – go ahead! This is a great Geo-Location tool for Real Estate!
