Jon- interesting and you're vey right. The roof is such an important part of our home and also takes a lot of abuse during harsh weather but many of us never give it another thought until we have to replace the whole roof.
Good advice, Jon! A month or so ago, I was up on my roof to retrieve a small branch that had fallen from a nearby tree. I noticed the roof material (composition) had become quite crumbly. This was a significant change from the last time I was up there. Knowing the age of the roof, I know it is beyond repair, and I will begin taking estimates for replacement before too much longer.
Kathy~ I think it's important just like you, as we both know, prevention saves money....thank you!
Myrl~ You're so right, thanks for the great added information!!! Thanks!!!
You are so right. Pinching pennies on a roof could cost alot of pennies down the line. We happen to live in a golf course community. Once a year the roofer comes out to replace 30 or so tiles that have met the old golf ball.
Chris & Dick~ Living on a golf course I'm guessing you get to strike the ball every once in awhile. Hope your golf game matches the beauty of the sport! Homes that have golf balls raining down must be vigilant with roof inspections, and pinching pennies will end up blowing-up in the owners face, very nice addition! Thanks...
Hi unfortunately people are afraid he they find a leak then they will have to fix it....i had a roofer tell me once taht he starts in the attic where he check for clues...nice blog
Great Blog...That is very good advice and most people do not have preventative maintenance done on their roofs here unless they are tile.
Gloria~ HI, the attic divulges a lot of info, they were right! Thanks for the nice addition!
Phaedra~ Thank you, I agree with 100%, thanks for checking-in!!!!
Send Bond Roofing up this way, I need a new roof on one of my rentals! And roofs can be such deal killers if not maintained too!! This post reminds me that I better get some bids going on the roofing project -- not looking forward to it, but an important element for sure!!
Look at you rockin' the Rain with features! So I'm out of town trying to relax and I just got a home inspection report that one of my transactions has roof issues. Never a good thing and especially when I'm out of town and can't talk with my buyer face to face about the issue at hand.... It's always something.
Jon - I think many people forget about their roof until it no longer works properly.
I would emphasize getting a licensed roofing contractor too. Many others dabble in roofs, repairs and replacements...need a pro
Carla~ He's on his way, ha ha! Good luck with the new roof, don't forget the roof is cheap when amortized..Thanks!
John~ Glad too see you were able to get some R&R!!!Good luck with the transaction, I'm confident you'll keep it together...you can do it!
Christine~ You're correct, I like to stop problems before they happen, prevention goes a long way! Thanks..
Richie~ Great point, I agree, a trusted licensed roofer works for me, I don't want a job I can't trust is right! Great point!
