Good morning, everyone!  Hope those of you in the Northeast have successfully dug out from yesterday's snow!

In the State of Illinois, and all across Chicago, new election rules, beginning with the upcoming Illinois Primary on Tuesday, February 5th, to vote early - through January 31st - in designated Early Voting Centers across the state.  The votes will be recorded electronically, but not counted until after the February 5th IL Primary Election.

In the past, the only early option was to vote by Absentee Ballot.  Voters had to declare a reason why they could not vote on Election Day.  No such explanation is required under the new Early Voting System in Illinois.

Each of Chicago's 50 Wards will have a designated Early Voting Center, usually set up in a public library branch, or in a school.  Early voting can be completed six days a week - including the Martin Luther King Holiday on Monday, January 21st, between 9:00AM and 5:00PM.   Voters must bring photo ID, and, of course, will not be able to vote again on Election Day.

The Chicago Election Commission office, at 69 W. The Early Voting concept, however, can change the way we vote in elections - perhaps take some of the drama away from Election Day.  The hope is, of course, the result will be more people will actually vote - overall turnout will increase.  That's a good thing!

 We can do the Same in CA. I just looked over my sample ballot and it gives me the option to vote at the registrar of voters 1/7/08-2/4/08. I hope this will encourage more people to get out and vote!
