A CHIP BUTTY in honour of the London Olympics

By
Real Estate Agent with Sotheby's International Realty Canada - Brokerage

A CHIP BUTTY in honour of the London Olympics is what my husband will be enjoying for his dinner tonite!

(You couldn't pay me to eat this but he just loves them)

~ I believe this was first created in Liverpool.

Just in case you are not familiar with this British 'delight' you take 2 pieces (rounds or slices, depending on where you are from) of plain white sandwich bread and butter them quite thickly - not a heartsmart menu item by any means!

You then get chips (french fries) - they can be hot or cold - and pile them on to one piece of bread and on the other slice, you apply red sauce (ketchup or catsup!) or brown sauce (HP sauce) or Mayo (mayonnaise)

Traditionally, it was always red sauce but it has since be adapted to suit the eater.

I've even seen it with Garlic Butter over the chips!

I think there are rules about eating a Chip Butty and they include eating it whole (no cutting in half), elbows must be up and both hands used to hold the butty.

Enjoy whilst watching the London Olympics.  (I'm told a pint of your favourite Bitter [beer] goes well with it - yuck!)

(Please have 911 predialed and ready should this NON Heart Friendly meal not agree with you!!)

If you are not interested in the Olympics and want to talk to me about Buying or Selling a property in the Gananoque, Kingston or 1000 Islands area, you know how to find me . . .

Although I have nothing against the British...  The British are NOT noted for their fabulous cuisine... hence the propensity for favoring such a dish...LOL

Susan,

I like my fries with Malt Vinegar. I like sandwiches too so what the heck...maybe I'll give that a try.

I'm sorry Susan, but that sounds yucky!  I like "chips", but not a sandwich of them!

Hi Anna -  everything in moderation is the best way to go thru life!  I think he would eat this once every year or so, maybe longer.
