ORANGE COUNTY CA REAL ESTATE LISTINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMReal estate sales sign in front of a house, which reads "completely remodeled... in the 70's"

Recently, while I was searching for homes for my buyers here in Orange County, California, I found one of those real estate listings that make you go hmmm. So... I'm not trying to be rude or insult anyone's taste, but some real estate agents really need to get up to speed about what's hot and what's NOT in today's market. When a real estate listing states that a house has "all the bells and whistles", I'm expecting to see a completely updated kitchen and baths, hardwood or stone flooring, and modern paint colors. What I don't expect to find is dark oak kitchen cabinets with granite slapped on top and highlighted by 1970's style drop down lighting, white walls, 12 inch tile floors (not even laid on a diagonal-eeek), oak paneled walls, and a navy blue velour barca-lounger in the family room! OK, so maybe the barca-lounger isn't part of the house, but it certainly is a reflection of the owners taste and style, and dates the look and feel of the home. At minimum, I would exclude this photo from the real estate listing... I'm just sayin'.

REAL ESTATE AGENTS THAT HAVEN'T CHANGED THEIR HAIRSTYLE SINCE THEY WERE 17

Writing a misleading description is not helpful, and just because you say so, doesn't make it so. I have to wonder if these real estate agents think they're fooling Orange County home buyers into thinking that these "upgrades" are the newest rage in home design, or if this is one of those real estate agents that hasn't changed their hairstyle since they were 17, and they really don't understand that this decor isn't in anymore!?

I'd love to hear your stories in the comment section below, so please tell me if you've seen, or been the victim of one of these bogus property descriptions in a real estate listing in your area.

Ha! Completely updated in the 70's! That's about right for some houses.  My picture is a couple of years old now so I'm about due for new one. A new haircut first would be a good idea too!!

Hi Anna~ Yes, sometimes you have to wonder if the agent loaded the wrong photos into the listing- LOL!

Hi Jenny~ Too funny! I loved the recent post about agents with old photos. It's very true but I don't think a couple of years is bad. It's when they're 10 years old or more, and the agent is unrecognizable in person... that's when you know it's time to update your photo! ; )

Thanks for reading and commenting! Hope you're both having an awesome week!
