115 Comments on Who Are You and What Did You Do to My Blog?
Wow...thanks for the information. It just is unreal to me that this can even happen in the first place. Nothing is safe any more, especially on the web.
Hi Kathy,
I learn three new things every day of my life. Thank you for providing the first one for today. I see these links in blogs all the time. I thought they were allowed by the site to help pay for it. When I read a blog I have a habit of tracing where I am reading. This invariably triggers those mouse-over pop-ups.
There are way to many people with far too much time on their hands to come up with crap like this. Thank you for the heads up.
And to think it's that easy and I called my IT guy over here. ARG!
Kathy- This is great information...looks like I've been infected too. Thanks for sharing!
Kathy~ my experience is once a virus sets in fixing it is not worth it! IMO..Protection and prevention handles and stops any virus that try's knock-in...
Wow Kathy, thanks for the heads up. We will check a few of our old posts.
I think Gita #2 got ripped that's for sure!
I have Spybot that I use (gets rid of AdAware & the like) every couple of days to remove spyware. It's never done anything malicious to me!
Kathy
Thanks for sharing this important information. Internet advertising has really gotten to be a pain, and the adware and malware out there is staggering. I use SandboxIE (since I had major virus and adware issues a year ago) and have had no problems since. Here's knocking on the proverbial wood
Jeff
Good to know & yes, my sites been hacked repeatedly since early this year ... and turned out it was malware on my laptop that was difficult to find & erase.
All I am going to say is THANK YOU!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Those things have been irritating me for about 2 months and I didn't know how to get rid of them!
Jezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, what will they attack us with next? Never heard of this one and will definitely go online to learn about it through your link.
Evelyn- I hope you don’t ever have to use it.
Susan-you’re welcome. Just don’t click on them!
Christine- oh great.. one more thing to worry about.
Patricia-thanks but if I were that smart I probably would not have gotten the adware! Hope you don’t get it.
Pamela- people have had their websites hacked and I’m still cautious about what I put “in the clouds”.
Jon-Glad to be of help. Just Google “text enhance”.
Bob- I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it keeps working. I’m sure it may have been something i accidentally clicked on .
Mike- I’ve probably seen it before but never paid any attention to it.
Stacey-Ann- well, I’m going to hope that you don’t have to use it.
Ricki-those annoying spammers and such are always coming up with some new way of driving us crazy.
Karen- I don’t go back usually and this time I noticed them on other’s posts.
Travis- I’m no computer specialist.. far from it but I’ll periodically delete cookies and stuff like that.
Jennifer-well we’re so used to seeing “link”lines under words in our posts but these do look different.
Tina- I know a lot of people have had their email hijacked. They’re always going into address books.
Dana- that’s what my first thought was. (that AR was doing it to generate additional revenue but then I knew they would have told us.)
Andrea-yep.. you have to wonder why.
Tammy- I know. But there are times when you just need to call in the troops!
Amanda-oh no... well watch the video!
Jon- I have AVG as well as some other programs but in the past I’ve had to just wipe out my hard drive and start over and that is no fun at all.
Bob- reading the comments here, I see that others have been infected as well.
Lyn-unfortunately, I think she did but what are you going to do? It helps to know people who are good with computers.
Jeff- I may look into that one. I know I have all kinds of protection but I want to check out alternatives. I’m not liking those ads that pop up anywhere your cursor may go.
Tina- it’s so frustrating when things go wrong with our computers. It’s like my car.. I want to know I can get in and just turn it on.. no other problems.
Judith-well..you’re very WELCOME!!!
Nan-I think as soon as one has a fix, there’s another one down the pike.
Hi Kathy,
Thank you so much for sharing this important information with all of us! How scary to think that they can just hijack all of our blog posts!
Hope you're week is going great!
Gina
Kathy, I am wondering why you have noticed them on either your posts, or on some of the posts of others, and I have never seen them. I make at least ten comments per day, and read more blog posts than that... but I have never seen them. How weird.
Very cool! I had this before on an old computer but not on this one. I bookmarked for future reference too! Thank you.
I had the same thing and at first thought AR was taking steps to monetize the blogs.
Gina- everybody's a hacker or hijacker these day.
Ms Karen- It may be that you only see them if your browser has the adware. I'm not sure.
Lynda- I have a program that I run but these guys are always a step ahead of us.
Gene- LOL... so did I!!!
One challenge of using the Internet is the constant fight against Malware / Spyware / Adware. I run half a dozen programs to block Script, Ads, and Spyware, but every once in a while something gets through!
Fred: It sounds like you've got a good handle on this stuff you mention. What are the names of the different programs that you use?
