Who Are You and What Did You Do to My Blog?
Attention, attention, this is some pretty important info all bloggers need to have just in case. It has to deal with hackers and Ad-ware. Kathy had the unfortunate pleasure of experience this situation first hand but know has the knowledge to pass on for use to avoid it.
Who Are You and What Did You Do to My Blog?
I was wandering around the Rain today and noticed some words underlined in posts I was reading. I’m so used to seeing words underlined, either for emphasis or as a link to another website that at first I just dismissed them.
But when I saw words underlined in my own post, I thought … senior moment? Why did I place a link there? And indeed it was a link to an ad that had nothing to do with the post.
I saw a few more like these and they all had “text enhance” on them. After Googling “Text Enhance” I learned that this was Ad-Ware or browser hijacker. It attaches to your web browser, whether it’s Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Apple Safari.
Text Enhance does not infect websites....it infects the individual user.
Adware has been around and will continue to be around so this is nothing new, and while I have anti-spyware/adware programs sometimes you still get it.
So should you get this Text Enhance, you can remove it. I’m not going to attempt to tell you how but here is a link that tells you how to remove Text Enhance. There are different steps to take depending upon which browser you use.
