Farmers' MarketShopping is not always a fun activity, but it is when you hit the Glenview Farmers’ Market right across the road from Wagner Farms at 1510 Wagner Road, in Glenview.

The Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through October 13th. There are two places you can park: parallel park along Wagner Road or take advantage of the generosity of the Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church by parking free in their lot adjacent to the market (just don't park in the reserved spaces please).

Once you get to the market, you'll want to stop and see the cooking demonstrations going on each Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at "The Chef's Table". Area chefs will be showing everyone some fabulous dishes using fresh produce you can buy right here at the Farmers’ Market. So watch the chef, and make your list of produce to purchase.

Stop by "The Green Table" from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to learn more about sustainable living from area Green Business Award Winners.

The Community Booth shares info each week about various local interests such as therapy dogs, juvenile diabetes, and local service organizations.

There's also live entertainment for your enjoyment, so stop by and join the fun.

Of course, some of the most important people at the Farmers’ Market are the vendors. You'll find sellers of meats, fruits and veggies, flowers, handmade crafts, collectibles, breads, coffees, cheeses, pastries, plants, honey, jams and jellies, candy, salsa, and even pet food!

You can check the Market schedule online before you go each week to see who will be manning all these various activities, as well as who will be entertaining you.

The Farmers’ Market offers fun for everyone every Saturday morning throughout the summer, but there's lots of other great things to do in the Glenview area all year long. I look forward to Fridays when our local Farmers Market takes place.  It's always such a good time with fresh fruit, dog everywhere and kettle korn.  Mmmm!  Enjoy Marla!

Farm fresh produce usually seems to have more flavor than the supermarket offerings. Not sure if I just imagine that or if its actually true. What do you think?

I think it's actually true. We really don't know what all supermarket produce has been through or how long it took to get to us, but it may not be a pretty picture! Thanks for your comment.
