Movie Line-up for the Remainder of Summer:

August 3   My Favorite Brunette - Comedy - Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour & Peter Lorre (1947)

Baby photographer Ronnie Jackson, on death row in San Quentin, tells reporters how he got there: taking care of his private-eye neighbor's office, Ronnie is asked by the irresistible Baroness Montay to find the missing Baron. There follow confusing but sinister doings in a gloomy mansion and a private sanatorium, with every plot twist a parody of thriller cliches. What are the villains really after? Can Ronnie beat a framed murder rap?

August 10  The Little Princess - Uplifting Drama - Shirley Temple (1939)

Shirley portrays Sara, the pampered daughter of a British officer. Left in boarding school when her father goes off to war, Sara's world is turned upside down when he is reported dead. Destitute, Sara is made a servant at the school, yet she refuses to let her spirit be broken. She also refuses to believe her father is really gone and begins searching the army hospitals to find him.  Filmed in Technicolor.

August 17  D.O.A. - Film Noir - Edmond O'Brien (1950)

Small-town accountant Frank Bigelow goes to San Francisco for a week's fun prior to settling down with fiancée Paula. After a night on the town, he wakes up with more than just a hangover; doctors tell him he's been given a "luminous toxin" with no antidote and has, at most, a week to live! Not knowing who did it or why, Bigelow embarks on a frantic odyssey to find his own murderer.

August 24  King Kong - Creature Feature - Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong(1933)

Master showman Carl Denham has fallen on hard times, and mounts an expedition to the mysterious Skull Island to find a showpiece. He takes along adventurer Jack Driscoll and the down-on-her-luck gorgeous blonde Ann Darrow with him to spice up the show.  The local islanders kidnap Ann to offer her as a sacrifice, to Kong who is fascinated with Ann. Dehnam gasses the beast and transports it to New York where he puts it on display. When it manages to escape, it terrorizes the city, climbing to the top of the Empire State building where it must confront air force planes trying to shoot it down.
