National Night Out is America's annual Night Out Against Crime. This fun and unique crime and drug prevention event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch as well as many local organizations and celebrated by more than 15,000 communities across the country, Canada, and military bases worldwide.
2012 marks the 10th year the Auburn Police Department has organized this free public event. This year's event promises to be one of the best yet. Beginning Tuesday, August 7th at 5:30 and continuing until dusk, Auburn residents and visitors will enjoy free food, games, and music as well as demonstrations by the K-9, bicycle, and motorcycle teams of the Auburn PD and demonstrations by the Auburn Fire Department.
There will be face-painting, hula-hoop and jump rope contests, as well as the always popular bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, and laser tag! Volunteers will provide child ID kits, balloons, and lots of other "give-aways." The band, Five Face North will be there providing live music to add to the fun.
