Farmer Feature

This week's gorgeous minneola tangelos are from Fred and JoAnn's farm near Temecula. A fourth-generation farmer and a second-generation citrus grower, Fred & JoAnn grow oranges, grapefruit, minneolas, and CATS(thirty!) on their seven acre farm.

This ranch is truly a labor of love. Orphaned when he was twelve, Fred kept the grove going with the support of his grandma. Now he's got JoAnn's help - she actually came out and helped us pick!!

ORANGE COUNTY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPPORTS LOCAL FARMERS AND BRINGS THE FRUIT FROM THE FARM TO OUR SCHOOLS. WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE AMAZING CONNECTIONS WITH LOCAL GROWERS TO OUR SCHOOL.

I hope the orange growers can get community support before there's no more oranges in orange county!
