7 Comments on They are not historic now but soon will be so save these pictures. Going down on E. Pleasure St. in Searcy AR.
Mary, I DID mean E. Pleasure! Thank you for pointing out my mistake. I tried to find these on our court house data to see when they were built but could find nothing. When you worked at the Housng Authority you handled subsidized rent, didn't you? Were these subsidized apartments? Just for students? How old do you think they are. oops! were....as of today on the south side of the road. They are gone.
Barbara, Searcy AR is a changing place. Every time I visit your blog, you are showing another memory that is being taken down and being replaced by a new memory! It is a good thing you are the keeper of the memories.
PS, I like the rock wall too.
Andrea, you're so nice to drop by. I have become so busy with the Searcy history that I have neglected my activerain friends. Where is Nutsy? I need to call on that guy.
Mary, I remember seeing you at the Housing Authority during that time. I once had two rentals and one rented to the nicest elderly lady who had her rent subsidized. She appreciated the help given to her. In other cases I was not so lucky. Is there still a Section 8? Probably some of the married students qualified for some rent subsidy. You didn't leave in 1991 because of the end of the program, did you?
I think the apartments were probably built in the early 70's because that is when the look was so loved. Remember Eden Aisle? When it started out the houses all seemed to be that style and even the Red Apple Inn is similar. I wanted a house just like those!
Mary, you are retired and still live in DC?
Barbara, Mary lives about 300 miles North East of Washington D.C.
Sorry, Mary, I had to butt in since I didn't have anything to say about the fine apartments.
Don, I need to remind folks that you are #9 for activerain bloggers in the state of Arkansas and those points have been gained mostly by commenting and participating in this blog. Without you, I'd be lost. Your jumping in is always acceptable! : )
Mary, I think you are probably in an area that I have never visited but has to be a good place blessed by your presence.
