The 2012 Braemar Doggie Paddle

There's no better way to close out the pool season in Braemar, especially if you are an animal lover, than with the annual Doggie Paddle.  This year's Doggie Paddle will be on September 8th from 12pm-4pm.  Rain date will be September 9th.

If you haven't been to a Braemar Doggie Paddle, you should put it on your calendar.  After the Iona Sound Pool has closed for the season, and before it's drained, Braemar hosts an event where the neighborhood pooches can enjoy a swim.  The cost is $10 per dog with a limit of two dogs per family.  Cash or checks made out to Prince William SPCA only.  No credit cards.  Here's some general rules:

During the event, only dogs are allowed in the pool.  Adults or children sixteen or older can bring dogs.  No one under sixteen will be admitted.

No food or treats (human or for dogs) permitted.

Tennis balls will be provided, but dog owners are welcome to bring water toys.

Money raised from the event goes to the Prince William SPCA.  Besides the cash entrance fees, donations of old bedding, clean towels and blankets, leashes, cat litter, pet food and treats will also be accepted for Prince William SPCA.

Come and spectate or bring your dog to enjoy a season ending dunk in the pool.  Address for the pool is 12300 Iona Sound Drive in Bristow.

Now THAT would be a fun event to attend and watch, even if you don't have a pooch to take along. WIll you be going? We'd love to see a video or some pics.

Chris Ann, I am so jealous, what a great event. My golden would love to get into this pool, my other dog does not do water, barely drinks it!  I echo Jeff's comments, if you go, please take some pictures.

Jeff:  I'm going to put it on my calendar to take pics.  I don't have a dog, but would love to watch.

Kathy:  It's a great way to benefit a local animal charity.  Will share pics in September.

Scott:  Can't change the turning of seasons.  I do enjoy having all four though...even winters with snow.  Of cousre, we don't get nearly as much of it as you do up in New Hampshire.

Al:  I'll get behind something to benefit those helping homeless and abused animals any day.
