20 Comments on Perfecting Your Kick: Lessons from an Olympic Champion
Those are some dedicated athletes, I know that we put a lot into our work for our clients, but man, 5 hours all seven days of straight swimming...wow...
You have drawn some great lessons from Michael Phelp's story.
Louise,
In the last Olympics in Beijing, we had written a post about Michael Phelps, and I am glad you wrote one for this Olympics. Our post was titled Focus is Genius, and focus is what gets you there, and you keep focusing on what can be done, and the rest falls into place. Thanks for writing about this. A
Good afternoon Louise. Michael has had his share of challenges and still finds a way to make things happen like a true champion.
When life gives you lemons..........make that lemonade! Michael Phelps is an amazing athlete that has worked very hard to get to the top of his game. Instead of feeling sorry for himself he and his coach figured out another way. I will be sad when the Olympics are over and there will be nothing good to watch until the winter Olympics come back around.
Louise, well done blog! Michael Phelps story is full of everyday lessons, work hard and go after your dreams, don't give up and stay focused. If there's a set-back, you can get passed it ... What a great athlete, we can all learn from him.
What blows my mind is he set records that may never be broken and some say he isnt the greatest??? Well if we judge by accomplishment (which is what the business and sports world is all about) then how do you come to any other conclusion that he who wins the most is likely the best, especially when it spans 12 years!!! That dedication and consistency
Bud and Beth - I'm with you! Five hours of intense FOCUS - WHEW!
Rob - thanks for dropping by. I love the Michael Phelps story!
A - I had a story nationally published which I wrote about Michael in 2008....! So I have followed him since then - incredible! And no surprise that you and I think alike in following him!
Randy - so true. He is champion because he has overcome his challenges!
Paula - I love the Olympics also! So powerful to see such dedication.
Andrea - I think you have a blog post with your list of what we can learn from Michael! Thanks, friend!
Cindy - I also am in awe of these incredible atheletes. Amazing to watch them!
David - I AM WITH YOU! I love how you put it - if he is winning the most, then most likely he is the best! (DUH?)
I hope you don't mind, Louise, but I'd like to add Kick Ass to the list! It's what we do for our buyers and sellers, right?
Great post and inspiration from the Olympics. Love #3.
Hi Louise, this is a nice real estate comparison with the Michael Phelps story. I had not known about his injury.
Great post! As a former athlete, I can definitely attest to what it takes to perform with limitations. Limitations shouldn't be seen as limitations, but opportunities. The opportunity to set aside any limitation, no matter what type, and use what skills are left while you heal, is huge. In business or in athletics, it takes strong effort, ethics and ability is last!
Louise - I'm in the process of kicking up my daily discipline and trying to delegate the things I shouldn't be doing.
Eric - LOL!
Markita - thanks for dropping by - I like #3 also!
Sandy - I wrote an article about his injury in 2008 - and when he made Olympic history, it just worked to remind myself - and others of what could have stopped him from making history! Lesson for us today, for sure!
Jan- I LOVE what you said - LIMITATIONS can be OPPORTUNITIES! Wow - now THAT is a blog post in itself!
Christine - GREAT comment about kicking up your daily disciplines. I also am doing that - not easy, but necessary! Thanks for dropping by!
Louise: Your post covers SO many good points, I hardly know where to start to acknowledge them all. Perhaps the best lesson for me, surrounded what was gained from the injury or hardship he suffered. Especially appropriate for us Lenders, right?? Great post ... and unbelievably timely ... thank you ...
