Fires Creek in Hayesville NCFires Creek is a recreational area in Hayesville, NC.  To get there From Hayesville, go 5 miles on US 64W.  Turn right on NC 175 for 2.5 miles, left on SR 1344 for two miles.  Fires Creek water is often very cold, therefore, you may want to take a swim during a hot summer day.  What makes this recreational area fun for Hayesville residents is the fast flowing stream that allows rafts to traverse down it.  Often my sons take their friends to splash down the stream on a mini-white water rafting adventure, while I watch them from on top of a walking bridge.  At the bottom of the short rafting ride is a beautiful water fall.  Again, the kids love to explore this area and stand under the rushing waters.  At the other end of the falls is a deep water hole.  It is fun to jump off the big rocks into this deep water.

A few picnic tables are available if you want to snack and trails provide solitude for a walk through nature.  These trails are available for horses if you choose to ride rather than walk.  The creek also results in great fishing for rainbow, brown and brook trout.   Beware, however, the area is a designated black bear sanctuary.  In all the times that we have visited, we have yet to see one, but I am sure they are around.

Picnic tables and BBQ grills in the woods next to a refreshing mountain stream? My kind of relaxation. Definitely looks inviting, Rick!
