Vacation time! Time to unplug (perhaps not completely.) Time to refresh and renew. We all need it.
It's never easy to break away from real estate, but with advance planning and a team in place, it's possible. A huge Thank You to my colleague, Pooneh Fouladi, who has stepped in and now has a buyer of mine in contract while I'm way.
I'm far from my San Francisco home this week, enjoying time with family 3,000 miles away. My husband, his brother and I are presently enjoying a 4-night stay at the Highland Center, the beautiful lodge run by the Appalachian Mountain Club. Day hiking in the White Mountains is an amazing challenge - vertical and rocky - a 8-mile hike here is more strenuous that knocking off 15 miles on San Francisco Bay Area trails. And how beautiful and green it is here.
Time for breakfast, and another day of hard, happy hiking!
Good morning, Lottie..... hope you're enjoying your vacation....make it a safe one...
A good business owner takes the time to recharge and balance his/her life. Have a great vacation. I am sure you will return refreshed.
I am in bad need of one ( been 5 years). I usually go December when demand is down and completely unplug for a week. No cell, laptop or sneaking down to cyber cafe.
Enjoy those glorious hikes--it's a fabulous way to restore and renew your spirit.
Lottie~ We ALL need to recharge our batteries once in a while. I'm thinking we might need to take a weekend soon and some RELAXING!
We all need the time to be silent and not be on a working vacation. It's tough but we need it just as much as anybody else does. Looks like you had a great time!
Lottie - I hope you have a wonderful vacation. Enjoy the experience and time off. Be safe!
Hi Barbara -- I thought of you as we drove across MA the other day! Our vacation has been super so far.
Grant, I agree completely. Even though I love my work, I also need to do healthy, fun things to recharge--so I continue to love my work!
Rob, I hope you manage to get away this December--5 years without a break is just too long!
Norma--a good day of hiking, especially 3 great ones in a row, does wonders for the spirit (not sure about the knees--New Hampshire is tough country! :) )
Donna, I say go for it! We instinctively know when we need a break, and are the better for it.
Thanks, Peggy! I managed to stay on the trails these last 3 days and haven't fallen off the mountain, down a ravine, or twisted anything on tree roots or rocks. So far, so good.
Jennifer, we've had a great time. And you're right about the silence--much needed and much appreciated. We'll be tourists in Manhattan on Sunday, walking and exploring the length of Central Park, etc. I'll be thinking of you.
Laura, thank you. We're having a ball and staying safe.
Hi Lottie, it sounds like you and your family are having a lot of fun hiking on the mountain. Enjoy and be safe!
Wow! Sounds absolutely wonderful, Lottie. Enjoy every minute and post more pics when you get back. Mentally I will walk with you.
Kwee, we had a great time in the White Mountains! Hiking is our favority activity, and those mountains are glorious (but tough!!!)
Lottie, the stream in your photos looks so inviting, especially since we're enjoying record heat, enjoy your well deserved time off and travel safe!
Hi Nancy -- yes, this has been a HOT summer, for sure. Walking through Manhattan last Sunday was brutal (but fun for us, all the same--I couldn't believe how much liquid I drank in those few hours!) We're having a heat spell in the Bay Area now -- 104° in Livermore; 66° in San Francisco - quite a spread!
