~ The Dog Days of Summer ~
A Day in the Life of a Canyon Canine...
Bow-wow-wow, Yippee-yo, Yippee-yay; the kids are out of school and I get to play!
I love the summertime, the kids are home from school and they have so much more time to play fetch and catch with me. My tummy gets rubbed twice as much and sometimes my pet parents even let me go in the pool!
I live in Canyon Lakes, I’ve heard my parents say it’s in Boynton Beach, Florida and I'm in puppy love with it here. Yesterday my mom took me on a long walk from Canyon Lakes to Canyon Trails to look at new houses that are being built. I got to sniff noses and make new friends in Canyon Trails, last week I made new friends in Canyon Springs and Canyon Isles.
Since there aren’t any rules on how many dogs pet parents can have I get to make lots of new friends! There are so many parks and playgrounds in my neighborhood where I can roll around in the soft grass and get nice and dirty!! There are also two stores where my mom and dad take me shopping all the time, PetSmart and Pet Supermarket are just a few miles away from the Canyons.
My mom loves to take me on long walks and she sings a funny little song whenever I’m on my leash, “When Fido poops, remember to scoop... When Fido poops, remember to scoop...” I get her scoop song stuck in my head all the time. Tomorrow she said that we can go on a walk with the kids over to Canyon Town Center, a pet friendly plaza, to do some window shopping. I’m not sure what window shopping is, but I know when they take me to Canyon Town Center I get to sit outside at Alabama Joe’s where the servers bring me bowls of water, nice people walk by and give me pets and if I’m good my dad gives me a little bit of his bacon burger! We also have pet plans to see a concert at the Canyon Town Center Amphitheater this weekend. As long as my mom and dad keep me on my leash, I get to lay in the grass under the stars and hear music.
Sometimes my owners take me south to Canine Cove in Boca Raton where I can run and play with new friends. Other days they take me north to Delray Beach to Lake Ida’s Dog Park. On lucky dog days I get to go on a nice, long drive in the car to Pooch Pines Park in West Palm Beach! I just love the feeling of my ears and tongue blowing in the wind!! It’s nice to get out to these dog parks because sometimes it’s a family reunion for me. You see, at Canyon Isles, Canyon Lakes, Canyon Springs and Canyon Trails there are rules about certain dogs. Some of my canine cousins are on the Dangerous Dog list and don’t live in the Canyon neighborhoods, but I still get to see them at dog park family reunions. My relatives that made the list are - pitbulls, doberman pinschers and rottweilers.
Yaaaawn... Strehhhhtch... Scrach... There’s something rattling down the hall, I know the sound of food in my dish when I hear it and I better get to it before the cat does!! Bark to you soon and have a great summer!
