New Marketing vs Old School...One Is Silver And The Other's Gold

Reblogger

This is such a GREAT piece of advice!...I have 'old school ' agents, and  'brand new' tech savvy agents, and both generations have something to contribute to help sellers sell their homes for top dollar, in less time, with the least amount of headache, and they both have ways to help buyers buy their 'perfect' home!

Marketing is what I do for a living now, and real estate listing and selling is a thing of the past for me.I’m definitely old school but have pushed myself to engage in modern day methods of marketing.

What I have not done is eliminate the old school methods. Why remove a task that works well? The ideal scenario is to integrate the old with the new.Make one method compliment the other.Allow one form of marketing to contribute to the success of another.

I am a great proponent of direct mail marketing (my snail mail will make the phone ring faster than any blog post) and I continue to use the local newspaper for marketing listings. Both of these methods are “old school.”

To integrate the new (blogging) with the old (newspaper ads and postcards) I write a blog post about each one and post it with a jpg of the full page newspaper ad and another post with the postcard that will be mailed.

This tactic allows the technology challenged potential client to continue to be lead to me and the modern day techie to find me online with the same “old school” advertising method that continues to work well.

Rather than “in with the new” and “out with the old” let’s make both the old and the new work together to make the phone ring. It’s the only way to capture the entire gamut of potential clients.

There's an old saying that states "make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the other's gold" and this reminds me of the challenge of marketing today.  Too often we eliminate the old and that's the "gold" of the formula.
