My Green pal, janeAnne from Asheville, shares a Home Greywater System.

It's amazing to me that this system can profide a 30% reduction in water useage for the average household. Do you suppose it will become a regular feature in homes of the future?

Greywater systems are good for us, and good for the planet.

Home Greywater System While showing a home here in Asheville yesterday-I saw an amazing greywater system. (see short VIDEO below ) This home-use system recycles water directly within the home as you will see explained in the VIDEO. According to wikipedia, "Greywater gets its name from its cloudy appearance and from its status as being between fresh, potable water (known as "white water") and sewage water ("black water").

In a household context, greywater is the leftover water from baths, showers, hand basins and washing machines only. Some definitions of greywater include water from the kitchen sink. However defined...here is an interesting fact if you are inlcined toward sustaining your budget and the planet...

FACT: Such a system could provide an estimated 30% reduction in water use for the average household...It is eco-friendly and saves money

Hi Debb - Very interesting. Living in a semi-arid climate helps focus one's attention on systems like this. We're always a couple of dry winters away from major water supply problems, and I expect that we'll be seeing widespread use of these in the future.

Debb,

I do think that at some point it will be the new normal.  In a new office park complex in Santa Monica knows as the Water Garden, we placed one of our clients there.  One of the positive selling points is that the whole garden and fountains were all fed through recycled water and it was recirculated and filtered.  I love all these solutions. Hi Debb,

janeAnne always does a great job promoting new and innovative ways to save the environment resources and this is a great re-blog! I also share in the philosophy that we need to teach the world there's a better, more cost effective way of doing things without wasting water.

janeAnne is a great pal, that's for sure! So are you!!! I think you're both admirable leaders in the Rain because you teach and support what's positive and good. The energy both of you share is contagious!
