Charlie has been in his new house with us now since the end of May. As I watched him stretched out to his full glorious length on the floor directly beneath the ceiling fan, I realized just how far he’s come in those couple of months.

Charlie used to live in the guest house with his son, Little Monkey. The day came when Little Monkey who had never enjoyed the same robust health as his dad, passed away unexpectedly. Who knows what time of day…he’d seemed fine in the morning when I gave him his breakfast but that evening when I came to feed them dinner, Little Monkey had died. Charlie of course, was very confused and sad.

Since we couldn’t leave Charlie in the guest house by himself, he came to live with us and the four little dogs. In the beginning he was shy and cautious but now he sees himself as a doglike cat and is very confident.

The two photos on top were taken right after Little Monkey died. You can see how unsure of himself he was. The two lower photos were taken in the past two weeks. This boy has found peace with himself and with his new surroundings.

With the exception of the cat hair challenge, it’s hard to remember when he didn’t live here.

Mona, I love Charlie's mustache.  My Mama Cat has lived with her son, Snowball, pretty much forever, and he sort of ran away from home a couple of months ago.  Snowball showed up in a neighbor's yard last week wearing a collar.  She doesn't act like she misses him, but I sure do.

Yay, Charlie! What great pictures! So glad you've found each other and the little guy's adjusting well enough. Here's to many more happy times together.

so glad he is doing good.  My skitty kitty has been ticked off at us for years for bringing dogs into the mix.  She's been in the closet or under a bed unless the dogs are sleeping for 4 years.  She came out the other night and plopped up on the sofa with Glen and gave him the "don't mess with me" eye and everything has been great.

Our dogs and cats live together pretty peacefully. Every now and then the dogs will chase the cats a little. The cats ARE NOT afraid. They will play along a little and then pretty much put an end to the nonsense! HA! :)) Love your kitty pictures. Glad he is doing so much better!!

Charlie or Chuckles as we like to call him, really is a love.  Our darling Lazer, who passed from us last year, I know loved us but was not as overtly affectionate as Charlie.  It's a different experience to have a cat that actively seeks out interaction and loves to be held.

Hi Mona, What a cute face. It looks like he had his face in the pudding. Too cute. Glad he has adjusted so well. But with parents like you, how could not just be very happy and content.

Charlie looks like a cool cat and seems to be very happy in his new home instead of the guest house.

Hi Pat, his mustache gave him the name of Charlie Chaplin.  He is a cutey, so was his son.

Gretchen, thanks so much.  He is about 10 years old but acts like a very young dude.

Tammy, the only hiccup in our household is that Charlie sometimes takes the Office Manager's place on the sofa and now we have to have a sheet on the sofa to control the cat hair.

Joni, our cats have always ruled.  In fact, the dogs know the very best approach is to never look the cats in the eye.

Leslie, sometimes all that overt affection is a touch on the annoying side.  What's up with the battering ram head and the wet nose?

William, that is so sweet of you.  I'm sure we aren't the best parents but we do try hard.

Charlie is a very cool cat and was also very happy in the guest house with his son.  They loved it.  He likes this too though.

Allen, he is a charmer and I'm sure you'd love him.

Sheila, he really is one of the prettiest cats I've ever seen and ever so darned sweet.

Sharon, I just read your post about Shadow and am so happy you are letting her into your heart and home.  You should take photos of her once a week and you'll be surprised at the change in her face.

Donna, the challenge was more for us I think, lol.
