Those children attending Gatewood will just have one day to sleep in that their friends are going to Putnam County Schools this year.  Gatewood is a private school in Putnam County located in the city limits of Eatonton.  The full schedule for the 2012-13 year is quite similar to the Putnam County School schedule this year so the local folks will have children on holidays at the same times.

Football starts the same night at Putnam County too.  Gatewood will be hosting Flint River Academy on August 24, 2012, but the full schedule for the season is right here.  My favorite game is always the battle of the lakes between Gatewood and John Milledge Academy.  It's the ONE night of the season where I have to pull for the other team.  John Millege, just over the Lake Sinclair border was closer to our home and it's where my daughter attended high school and graduated.  Other Friday nights I'm pulling for Gatewood. 

In a town as small as the one where I live I generally know close to half the children in Gatewood from church and varies other local activities around town.  Remain mindful of traffic differences with parents and teenagers driving to school in the mornings starting next week.  And if you are looking for a school with small classes and where there is a Christian focus check out Gatewood. 

Seems like summer vacation just started, but here it is another summer coming to a close.  I have to admit I'll be looking foward to some football weather when you need a blanket and hot chocolate.  That's what the children heading back to school signals for me now... cooler weather ahead.
