yellow onions at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market

This huge batch of onions caught our eyes this week at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market.  They looked elegant and beautiful on the table, like a stilllife painting.  According to Wikipedia, "The onion, which is also known as the bulb onion, common onion is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium."  They are one of the basic ingredients in all great cuisines world wide.

Happy Saturday, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

Hi Alexandra - If you look just at the bottom left quarter of the photos, the colors are something right out of a Dutch Renaissance painting. Very nice photo.

Hi Alexandra,

I forgot the name but it reminds me of the art women paint on their bodies in India when a woman is pregnant to wish them good health for mother and baby.

Those onions look artfully delicious! Just about everything goes better with onions. The colors are gorgeous. It would make a good jiggsaw puzzle too!

I love to see the world through your eyes.

Look at those beautiful onions. The sprouting tips are ideal for stir fry or wok cooking.

Alexandra, your photo makes those onions Indeed look spectacular with the way you captured them in the light. I cannot imagine live or cooking without onions in any of the many shapes and forms they come in.
