Do you know which Airport is the most Social Airport in the World”?

Well I am sure by now most of you know that Social Networks must be part of your business plan. Now would you think Airports need to do the same? My answer would be NO, not really. Why do they have to be Social Network conscious? The answer is easier than imagined, since the Airport’s clients are Social Network focused, hence they have to do what their clients want! Period, no ifs or buts about it!

Well OK getting back to my questions: Did you know that Facebook has named Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as the “Most Social Airport in the World”?

El Segundo Real Estate, Endre Barath

As you can imagine, the Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director was thrilled to get this recognition from Facebook.  This recognition was based on the fact that as of January 2012 LAX had 39,200 Facebook Fans and 8275 Twitter followers.

What does this mean in laymen’s terms? Facebook & Twitter pages provided travelers and the general public with timely information on flight delays, weather conditions as well as travel tips.

Most importantly due to a $5 billion dollar renovation construction information and traffic delays are critical. Hence putting this in perspective, if Los Angeles Airport sees the value in Facebook & Twitter to keep their clients happy, informed and on track, why should Realtors not follow this same path?

Buyers and Sellers of Real Estate are on Facebook & Twitter; hence Internet & Social Network Savvy Realtors understand this same concept. So if you are looking to buy or sell Real Estate in the Greater Los Angeles area feel free to reach out to me.

So because it has the most Facebook likes it's the "most social" airport? I'm not sure that's accurate, more of necessity.

Endre - How interesting.  Hopefully, they have also made their airport easy to get free wireless access so that everyone can view their social media.

My first guess would have been NYC, but Los Angeles does make a lot of sense.  Interesting post Endre.

Endre:  You make an excellent point in your post.  The airport can use the increased capabilities they offer to their OWN advantage.  Ironic that you write this today.  Our Chicagoland area was hit by severe weather last night.  Lollapalooza, a huge outdoor concert, was being held outside in Chicago.  The organizers utilized social media to get the word out as to the cancellation of the concert ... but also provided information to concert-goers as to where they could go for safety and cover, via Twitter and Facebook.  A fantastic example of what  services social media can provide in our daily lives.  Me?  I think LAX is brilliant and obviously understand what benefit there is to be derived from their efforts.   Interesting info ...

I can see the value of having all of those updates about flight delays and time changes as a real benefit to follow the LAX facebook or twitter pages, if you fly out of that airport regularly.

Interesting information.  Now, we need to take advantage of the available information on social networks.

Debbie, great point as I was traveling cross country I was able to work on the internet during the  flight and as I was waiting for an international flight not too many places had hot spots and battery charging stations!

Roger I  would have guessed that as well and was surprised with the answer that it was LAX:)

Gene, thank you for expanding how valuable Twitter & FB and the other Social Networks can be for the GOOD Too, not just the usual time wasters.....
