Are you settling for mediocrity?
Dennis posts an important question - Are you settling for mediocrity? More importantly is to direct it to oneself, as in Am I Settling for Mediocrity?
No one likes to think of themselves as mediocre. As we watch the Olympics this week and see people who have prepared for 4 years to be world class competitors, I find it inspirational and humbling.
What about you? Are you settling for mediocrity?
Are you settling for mediocrity?
Are you settling for mediocrity?
A couple of questions that have been bouncin' around between my ears for a day or two now: "Am I settling for mediocrity?" and "If so, how can I keep from doing so?"
Those are tougher to answer than you might think- for it requires one to be very honest with themselves. I'm the only one who truly knows if I'm trying as hard as I can, and you're the only one who knows if you're trying as hard as you possibly can.
If we're trying as hard as we possibly can, we should be able to accept our works' result even when it's less than stellar. But if we're not, we're settlin' for mediocrity.
We shouldn't accept mediocrity from our kids if we expect them to be successful down the road- and we shouldn't accept mediocrity from ourselves, either.
Not saying that's easy, though- the settlin' part is easy. Effort takes...well, effort. And work takes...you guessed it- work.
So how have things gone for you lately? Did you go out there on a prospecting trip and give it 100%- or coast along? Are you fine with your July sales numbers 'cause they were as good as June's- or are you fired up because you settled for working a few less days and you know you could've had your best month in a long time if you'd tried a little harder?
You have to score yourself on that one...How high did you set your bar?
