Rescue CatsWe're No Threat To The PBA Bowlers, But The Kitties Like Us Anyway!

Last night was the annual Thundercat Alley fundraiser to raise money for Ohio Alleycat Resource and Spay/Neuter Clinic.  First off, THANKS to all the sponsors who helped us and approximately 50 others raise money for this no kill shelter!  OAR conducts literally thousands and thousands of low cost spay/neuter operations on feral and stray cats each year.  It's a needed service and there's no shortage of Cincinnati area (and beyond) cats in need of help.

They've adopted out over 150 cats so far this year and they're filled to the brim with other cats and kittens in need of homes.  So last night was a fun opportunity to help them out with a few hours of trying to knock down some pins at Stone Lanes in Norwood.  We went down to the basement and brushed the dust off our bowling bags (it's been about 5-6 years since we bowled couples league).

OAR had raffles to raise some extra money, some T-shirts & car magnets for sale, and a lot of people there to have a good time.  There were gutter balls galore with many rookie bowlers there to support the kitties.

With 6 of us on a lane, we had just enough time to get in two games before our time was up!  Good thing all our sponsors were donating on a flat fee donation rather than a per pin donation!

We'll be back next year to do it again!

Glad to hear the event was a success and that you had a great time! I LOVE our SPCA here, which is a no-kill as well.

Glad it was a success.  Again, hats off to you for helping with this charity.  There are far too many animals being neglected and abused.

Charlie, Thanks!  We help out where we can.

Shannon, Glad yours is no-kill.  Unfortunately our local SPCAs aren't no-kill, so it's up to organizations like OAR to fill the gap.

Joy, It was fun!  OAR does a great job promoting the cause, and it's really cool to see their Facebook updates announcing each newly adopted cat :)

Bobbie, It's a Pay It Forward type thing, they've helped us, we're helping them, and hopefully the blogging helps bring them more attention and help.

Jerry, They recovered most of the cost of the stolen AC unit from back in July, so a pretty successful evening all in all.

BLIZ-Flat fee would definitely be the way to go if I were a bowler in the event. Sounds like it was/is a terrific cause.

Melissa, Flat fee worked for us definitely!  Our 2nd game scores dropped pretty hard and they'd have gotten off easy!

Tom, No video, although the organization took some photo for their FB page.  We're about 1" tall in them since we were on the 1st lane and far away from the photographer :)

Bliz, what a great way to support a "No Kill" shelter. I hope it brought in a lot of money to keep the shelter going.

I think this is a great way to raise money for the kitties, I may have to suggest that idea here locally.

BLiz- that's the way to have fun and support a very worthy cause. I used to bowl, decades ago while I wasn't that good, I always provided a good laugh for everyone.

Kathy, We'd venture that most of the folks there were not regular bowlers and just having fun with their fundraising :)
