As you all know, the new agency laws went into effect July 1, 2012. With that, we have new forms, more new ones to come, VAR's interpretation of the law and procedure, and finally, more confusion! For those of you who have taken the class, there has been a lot of discussion on when the brokerage agreement must be signed. Please remember that one of the main components of the new law is that all brokerage agreements MUST be in writing. My rule of thumb is the brokerage agreement should be signed at your first face-to-face meeting with the prospective buyer. Please see attached VAR's analysis of "licensed activity" as defining when the brokerage agreement must be signed.

Committees were formed for Culture (social and community involvement- ALC members Nikki Ryan, Melody Novack, Karin Ebner and Neil Cramsey; members Linda Smith, Stephane Allinquant, Isabel Uribe, Julie Hawkins, Annie Cefferatti- meets first Tuesday of the month at 10.15am), Growth (ALC member Pat Flynn and Ryan Zook; members Barry Allbright, Buky Delle, Brad Boland- meets second Wednesday of the month at noon), and Productivity (ALC members Rob Chevez, Lisa Moroniak & Matt Elliott; members Samer Naji, Fran Kormann, Sue Davis, Tim Finefrock - meets first Tuesday of every month at 1.30 pm) . Exciting plans are in store to take the market center to the next level of achievement... and there are still opportunities to get involved.
Potential new members -- commonly known as rushees -- go through a recruitment process, traditionally known as rush. As rush progresses, potential new committee members (rushees) list their choices in order of preference. Desirable rushees will receive invitations to the next committee meeting. Ideally, rush is a time for potential new members and ALC committee chairs to meet one another and see if they would be a good fit. It will be fun- and, unlike college, NO ONE gets excluded!
