Ladies, the beauty about the basic black dress is that you can create many dramatic looks with it.  You can dress it from office by day to party at night with the right accessories.   A different necklace, brooch, earrings, scarf or shoes will change the entire mood and look of the dress.  Gentlemen, same goes for the basic gray or navy suit, change it up with different shirts, ties and shoes.

Well the same holds true when you are decorating your home.

The perfect accessories can complete the look of a room and make it truly your own. Basic furnishings can be personalized and given a whole new look with the addition of the right accessories.  It's the little things in a room that add up to make it a warm and inviting place.

When evaluating the room you are decorating, consider light source, color, pattern and texture of the furniture, wall and ceiling color, floor covering and color, and traffic pattern in the room.  This will get you started on your way.

Once these decisions are made, then you start to accessorize with throw pillows, tables, lamps, window treatments, artwork and personal objects that you would like to showcase.

Decorating is really just as simple as getting dressed every morning.  You know what you like and what works together.  I bet there isn't one of us out there who hasn't asked a spouse/partner how we look after we finish dressing for work in the morning or a night out on the town.

We all like a second opinion and someone to guide us through the process.

Make it a great day!

Nothing I needed to tell you Joanna, you're amazing!

Thank you Judi, that's very kind of you.

But you wouldn't have gotten paid..............LOL.  Thanks Sharon.

Now that's adding some bling Melissa, I like it.

Thanks so much Jerry, much appreciated.  You have to be careful with color, but nothing wrong with using it.

That's the way to do it Joan............works every time.

Yep, that's what happened Sharon..........surprised the hell out of me...............LOL.  Thanks so much.

Thanks a lot Rob, good to see you.

I'll give you the same challenge I gave Nick...................you may be surprised Richard.

Most make it more difficult than it actually is Mike...........it's as simple as getting dressed up.

Obviously you're comfortable in doing what works best for you Andrea, kudos to you.

Your comment made me LOL Pat.............thanks!

So is that a bad thing Kevin?

Good morning, Roger.  What a great analogy.  You are so right and there are so many ways to dress up or dress down a room.  Congrats on the feature.

It scares me to even think about it Sally, she is one of my all time favorites.  Love Miss Gorightry!

Thanks BARFF.......when I lived in NYC, you very seldom saw me in anything but black, it works every time.  You also know that I'll paint anything black.

Of course I can make you look classy Miss Joni, but that comes from within and you already have that..........

Exactly Sharon, understated is best.

Fresh flowers are a perfect touch Karen.................

I'm not sure black, white and gray ever left Pamela.................rather classic.

Good morning Debbie, thanks so much.

Great info here Roger.  Very well written post.  The only time you will see me in a suit is if somebody died.

Gee, I have none Norma.................

Well I hope I never see you in a suit Jared...........wait, maybe I do hope I see you see a suit, at least I'll know I'm not dead!

The mix is always fun Janis, but it's good to have the basics too.

My pleasure Michael, it's pretty simple.

Hello Larry,

I agree with you... Great post.

But may I ask, where did you get that black dress? Sorry, it wouldn't be my first choice :)

Have a great day.

This what I like about men's clothes. Khaki, Navy and Gray pants. Blue shirts, jeans, 2 blazers, 2 suits and you are set for life.

Bad for the economy though... this is one reason we need women.

And you are full of compliments this morning, thanks so much Sheila, glad you enjoyed the post.

It could be the perfect thing for you Ginny, if you have a hard time deciding what to wear.  Pick something black!  The rest is easy.

Good connection, there is so much you can do to make a space personal and you don't need to spend a fortune doing it! Just like with the black dress, a nice set of pearls can make it more fancy or just the necklace your daugher gave you for Christmas for at the office.

Hi Roger, great analogy and great post.  Basic simplicity always seems to work, and then POP with an accessory!

You've got the right idea Bud and Beth.

That's what it all boils down to Charlie, those personal touches.  Thank you.
