Anyone who’s been to the mountains of Western North Carolina knows that it is the perfect place for hiking and other outdoor recreation. North Carolina’s mountains include some of the highest peaks in the eastern United States. There are countless miles of hiking trails throughout the area, including everything from easy hikes that everyone can handle to very difficult hikes that only the most experienced hikers should attempt. The hiking trails have helped make a name for the area, attracting visitors not only from nearby areas but also from other parts of the world. In the Brevard area, one of the best hiking trails is the Looking Glass Rock trail. Its trailhead is located on the Davidson River, and it is considered a moderately difficult hike. The trail starts off fairly easy but there are some very steep areas, particularly when you get near the top. The view from the top is spectacular, however, making it worth the effort. If you have children with you or want a less difficult hike, then Moore Cove Falls trail is the better choice. The trail is a little more than a mile long and is mostly very gentle. It can get muddy in spots, so keep that in mind when selecting shoes. The trail ends in a view of Moore Cove Falls. Naturally, these are only two of the many choices available for hiking trails in western North Carolina. If you’re willing to venture a little further away, there are many trails just waiting for you to discover them. For more information on hiking trails, visit www.hikewnc.info.
