This week’s Foodie Friday is dedicated to romance and the fun of having that perfect meal for just the two of you. One is a fun setting that invites laughter and conversation, another is quaint and intimate, and the third is elegant and sophisticated. If you’re looking for something special for this weekend’s date night, one of these might just be your ticket to romance….
1. THE MELTING POT http://www.meltingpot.com/ The Melting Pot offers a unique, interactive dining experience that will create memorable moments. And, it’s one of the better places to get your recommended daily allowance of romance. There’s something about fondue that will turn up the heat on date night. It will change what started out as a simple romantic dinner for two to an unforgettable occasion for both of you. The Melting Pot is the premier fondue restaurant where you can enjoy a choice of fondue cooking styles and a variety of entrees, salads and desserts. You can experience a four-course meal including cheese fondue, salad, entrée and dessert; or stop by for fondue cheese paired with a perfect glass of wine, it’s up to you! The Melting Pot is one of those date night ideas that truly delivers a romantic dining experience whether you’re feeding each other chocolate fondue-covered strawberries or taking a culinary tour of the world. So plan your next romantic dinner for two at The Melting Pot, then gaze longingly into each other’s eyes. Sit back, relax and feel free to stir things up.
2. CHEZ NOUS http://cheznousaustin.com/ One word that’s been used to describe Chez Nous is Perfection! The interior of this restaurant is small and quaint, but still very intimate. For fine European cuisine, Chez Nous is a favorite restaurant among Austinites, great for that perfect date night dinner. They have a 4 star wine selection but the reason you go to Chez Nous is for the food! A 30 minute meal can end up taking 2 hours because you spend so much time talking about how good everything tastes. You can begin your meal with escargots and gazpacho before enjoying delicious scallops or veal scallopini. Then end your evening with an espresso and mousse au chocolat or profiteroles for dessert. It’s a French tradition for dinner to be enjoyed and lingered over, so take your time and enjoy! Bon Appetit!
3. DRISKILL GRILL http://driskillhotel.com/austin-restaurants.php# Hospitality is an art form in and of itself, requiring experience, attention, discretion and thoughtfulness. At the Driskill, a superb and well-trained staff uses each of these elements to make your dining experience extraordinary. The Driskill Grill has been repeatedly ranked the number one restaurant in Austin. Executive Chef Jonathan Gelman brings his experience from some of the country’s most luxurious hotel and resort restaurants to the 4 diamond Driskill Grill. It remains the only restaurant in Austin to have received the “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator magazine in addition to numerous other awards. You will dine on an ever-changing array of innovative and impeccably prepared food in the most elegant surroundings in downtown Austin. If you’re sharing your date night with others, try the Driskill Grill’s Chef’s Table that seats up to six and offers a close-up of the culinary action and a custom tasting menu. Don’t forget dessert from the 1886 Café & Bakery, known as Austin’s Original Socializing Parlor” and offers a complete line of homemade pastries and desserts.

Good Morning, Dorie. All of these places sound like the perfect spots for dinning and romancing your sweetheart. I will certainly add all of them to my list of places to visit in Austin, TX.
Why do I always see your post about food when I'm already hungry? LOL
These are some good choices. I can't remember the last place I ate at when I was in Austin, but it was all home made and really good food. It was on the North East and I still can't remember the name....Oh well.
Makes me want to drive down and chow down, LOL. Help pray for some rain too.
Mmmm. Romantic dinner for 2 - what is that. Just kidding. Now that all the kiddies are off to college maybe we can have one once in awhile - wish I could fly down and try one of these. They sound fabulous. Love your posts. You always do such a great job!
The Melting Pot is such a fun place to eat. It's always a hard decision to first decide on what to eat, then decide on how you want it. But, that's part of the fun!
We have a lot of really good restaurants with 'home made' food here. And, being cool in Austin will be a bit of task today - we're at 101° and prayers are out there for rain for both of us.
Hi Dorie. I look forward to reading your "Foodie" Fridays and I don't even live in Austin. I am sure people over appreciate your candid and detailed descriptions.
