I have a recording that plays over and over in my head. It says, "I love it when that happens." Today was one of those days. I was talking to a real estate client who started out as an electrical client. During our conversation he said, "Oh, by the way, my wife reads a lot of blogs and she said, 'He's all over the web, and people have a lot of great things to say about him. He must be doing something right.'"
There goes that recording. They have been electrical clients for a couple years, but their decision to turn their real estate needs over to our company came about by the testimony they found on the Internet. The Internet can make you and it can break you. I'm glad that it's making my business more successful.
I'm fortunate that I don't have to sell real estate in order to make a good living. My contracting company takes good care of me, but I love dealing with real estate. So, when I opened my brokerage last year, I spent the whole year focusing on developing a web-presence so that I could establish my brokerage in the public arena well before I spent years and thousands of dollars on marketing.
It's paying off this year, and the company is becoming stronger each month. It has been a great payoff for a little work. What I've learned through Active Rain, books, webinars and blogging has helped push my real estate business forward. I've also taken the same tools and techniques and used them on my contracting company, and I've had the same results. My contracting company receives a dozen or more commercial contract offers each month. Why? The Internet.
There is a wealth of information on Active Rain. When you combine the AR classes, the blogs, the webinars and the great interaction with some of the best Realtors and brokers in the business you have a winning combination.
