Keys to the future

Into every life sooner or later mistakes will happen.

Last night we ran out for a quick grocery run.

Usually as we close the back door to our house I ask Ralph "do you have your keys?.  He checks and responds "yes!"

I have not carried a purse for years so it is an Important question.  There is not an easily accessible spare key.

Last night we did not have our house leaving conversation.

In the middle of the grocery store Ralph realized he was keyless...  This essentially made us homeless too!

He texted one of our sons who has a key to the house and he was able to let us back in.  It was a little uncomfortable admitting our error to the younger generation.  We really do not want our kids to decide we cannot be trusted to live alone ...

Today one of the first chores on our list was to get an extra key made for easier entry next time.  Yes I could resume purse carrying .

When we arrived at the Home Improvement Center we found that people are no longer required for the making of keys.

The photo shows the cute machine that ground out our newest breaking and entering device. It was quick , cheap and efficient!  Watching it was also entertaining.

It was also a reminder of the numerous things we cannot plan on doing for employment if we should ever decide to retire from selling Real Estate.

Hopefully we will never forget our key again.  It is however comforting to know we have a spare key that will open the most important door in our lives.

Oh, I could tell stories for some time of all the times we've been locked out of something or another, but the best is the time we locked our five month old baby in the car (a rental) and ourselves out. Luckily, we had left the car running (we had stopped just to switch drivers) so it wasn't too hot in there for him. Mel hiked to town and called AAA. They said it would be over an hour. He hung up and called 911. No fewer than a dozen emergency vehicles responded. We will never live that one down.
