A steel drum band playing with the water in the background.  A tropical island?  Not quite  - we are at Centennial Park Lake in Ellicott City, MD enjoying a gorgeous Wednesday evening surrounded by families, couples and kids doing the same.  This lovely lake and park in Howard County features free concerts every Wednesday night in the summer. There are other concert locations sponsored by the county as well - some with free Edy's ice cream which we'll have to track down next time!
Sunset Serenades
The bands this summer have included rock, funk, blues, classical and the US Naval Academy Rock Band!  The setting is relaxed, people with blankets, picnic, chairs and drinks. We lucked out - the evening weather was in the low 80's with none of the typical August humidity that we get here in Maryland.  There is nothing like an outdoor summer concert in the middle of the week to make you really slow down and appreciate what summer has to offer.
