CASA Parade of Playhouses Northpark Center 2012 - Creativity Rocks!
"It's a Hoot" CASA Playhouse features a family of five stylized owls. The front of the house is the largest of the owls. Orange Plexiglas forms the beak of the owl and allows light to shine through from the creative hand-made chandelier mounted in the center of the interior of the playhouse. Bright shining lights in the center of recycled car compressor parts create the eyes of this parent owl, who appears to be looking at you when you approach the front of the house. An arched dutch door, complete with owl door bell, forms the mouth of the owl. Lightweight green wings are made from fabric canopies. The back of the owl themed playhouse is a climbing wall designed to resemble the back feathers of an owl, with a graduated ladder and colorful climbing rocks. A portion of the roof is flat so that climbers can perch on top of the Hootin' Owl themed CASA Playhouse.
Each side of the CASA Playhouse features two owls. One owl has a winking eye made from a recycled spinning hubcap. Grownups and kids alike can be seen standing at the wall spinning the hubcap. Other eyes are constructed with recycled auto fans, wire baskets and Plexiglas. The beaks of two owls are made from scrub brushes. There are two working windows, as well as two lattice cutouts backed with Plexiglas to let light into the house.
Step through the front door of this CASA Playhouse and you are in a child's wonderland! The floors are painted in a checkerboard pattern. The walls are made of bead board and trimmed at the ceiling with crown molding. Moroccan lanterns hang on the back wall of the interior. The kitchen area is equipped with pots, pans, faux food, and an owl apron. A table for two, with two high back chairs is ready for dining, complete with goblets! A seating area with comfy cushions and a trunk filled with books, cards and other goodies stimulate the imaginations of all who look inside. Adorning the walls are framed owl images and a cuckoo clock, complete with a chirping bird. It is a toss up whether the interior or exterior of this owl playhouse is more creative.
I have always believed that we are here on earth to help each other get through life. The construction of all the CASA Parade of Playhouses is a labor of love that exemplifies that belief. The Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind graciously opened its doors and donated an air conditioned warehouse space to build the Hootin' Owl CASA Owl Playhouse. One charity helping another is the greatest example of giving. In addition to the Lighthouse for the Blind, talented hard working volunteers generously donated their valuable skills and countless hours to construct this imaginative structure.
The designer and builder of this creative playhouse , Erin Nicole Parisi, along with loyal sponsor, Winstead PC is worth seeing! Visit the CASA Parade of Playhouses 2012 at NorthPark Center to see this imaginative playhouse, along with the 15 additional houses, and choose your personal favorite. While you are there, support CASA, by purchasing raffle tickets to win a playhouse for someone who is young at heart! The drawings to determine the lucky winners of the houses will be held at NorthPark Center on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at 4:00 PM.
