This year’s Olympic Athletes have taught me that learning begins with a vision and a strategy, which requires a commitment and continuous efforts to achieve my best. As a REALTOR® who has survived some of the toughest years in the business, I recognize that to be the best I must be mentally prepared, think before I act with a manner consistent with my belief system, act decisively and perform at my best.

What I learned from the 2012 Olympic Champions is to FOCUS on priorities, IMPLEMENT and stick with the plan, REFLECT on my techniques and make continuous improvements, SEEK support from those that matter, i.e., a trained professional coach, and be ready to  TRANSFER knowledge to those that come after me.

Michael Phelps and Misty May Treanor have taught me it takes personal courage and strength to succeed and to quit with grace and dignity. My eyes have seen that everyone is to be judged fairly; but when in doubt, stand up for your rights and make an appeal. On August 9, Aly Raisman’s bronze turned into Silver after the United States filed a protest. All of our Olympic heroes, through their blood, sweat and tears illustrated beautifully that life is not a beauty pageant. You have to have heart to put it on the finish line and give thanks at the end. I witnessed true Olympic Stars who were not afraid to publicly give thanks to their Creator in front of the media and I was proud that they were proud of the countries they represented. The world at large needs true role models and I am proud of everyone who competed in the Olympics.

Each Olympic champion has a story. It’s not where you came from it is how you got here and why it matters. The same is true for REALTORS®, those in the Real Estate Industry, home owners and sellers too, everyone has a story and if you treat people with honesty and integrity you can live with yourself with no regrets. Our 2012 Olympic Athletes had a common thread. No matter what sport you’re in, always demonstrate good sportsmanship – everyone is watching, recording, talking and learning from your actions. Confidence begins with living with integrity. Those that succeed with honesty and integrity are a true inspiration. Good sportsmanship is the hallmark of great character.

In conclusion, I hereby make a public commitment to help anyone striving to achieve a goal in owning Real Estate that I will be there to encourage you to reach your goal. Our Olympians have taught us all that there is no telling what you can accomplish when you believe in yourself and you are inspired to dream. Let Freedom ring....

Patricia, what a wonderful post. I think we were all fascinated by this year's Olympics and I'm a little sad that it's over. It was such a thrill to see the athletes compete, they were trulu all in a class of their own.

Patricia, the inspiring stories resonant with me with every Olympics...dedication, determination and perseverance are the trademarks of the Games...good lessons for our children to learn...

Good words, Patricia.

Excellent post! There is not much more to say than what has already been said in the previous comments. As a self-confessed Olymp-aholic, I have learned so much by the compassion, good sportmanship & admiration that was shared from one to another no matter which country the athletics came from. Now if the rest of the world could do this everyday, what a wonderful place the earth would be.

The athletes demonstrated again that in order to achieve greatness one has to be focused, completely  dedicated and never loose sight of the final goal... Their focus is an inspiration that can be carried over to whatever one wants to achieve...

Thanks for writing this blog!

Every 2 years as I watch with great enthusiasm, I am continually amazed at the dedication, perserverence and fight that these athletes demonstrate.   Oh - and their familes too!   My goodness.   To hear their stories of blood, sweat and tears, brings tears to my eyes and new perspective of how hard I need to try to make my world better - like they have.   Thank you athletes and thank you world for letting us enjoy the true strength & peace that the olympics brings.

Patricia- Excellent Post!!!!!  I love watching the Olympics and this year was very special to see my 7 and 10 year glued to the tv and asking lots of questions.  Some of them were about the different sports but then some were asking about the history of the different countries during the opening ceremony.  This was an excellent opportunity for my husband  and I to educate our kids to let them know how blessed we are to live in a wonderful and free country.   Now with your outlook in real estates and what we took away from the Olympics and really made me think.  I did not see it that way but now I do.  I know these last few years in the mortgage industry has been a big change.  Lots of focus on new guidelines in the industry and determination that I could do this, made me successed.  I am so blessed to have support (FANS) from a great company, repeat clients, and Realtors to keep me motivated too!  Best of luck to you Patricia.

Something else we learned from Phelps is not to get too cocky about things. Just because things are going really well for you, doesn't mean you should reject new ideas. We have to continue to learn and grow to get better.

Patricia  The beauty of our American Olympians is that they are a microcosm of many nationalities, ethnic and religious backgrounds all molded into a dynamic team of athletes -  the only team like it in the world.  It is a concept most of the countries f the world don't undestand.
