Gaithersburg Fall Tennis Opportunities

The City of Gaithersburg Recreation Department is offering tennis opportunities with its Singles Tennis Leagues for men and women over 18 and Senior Tennis program for men and women over 50 this fall.

Singles Tennis Leagues will meet weekly and play will begin the week of September 10. Players who do not have a rating can call Pam Truxal at 301-258-3650 x121 for placement in the appropriate division. The fee is $21, $18 for City residents and the deadline to register is September 4. A complete set of rules and schedules will be mailed to each participant.

Senior Tennis will meet Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. at Morris Park, 421 Summit Hall Road, starting September 14. The six week program will be taught by Jim Harwood, who brings 35 years of teaching experience, and is open to beginner and intermediate players. The fee is $23, $20 for City residents. A tennis racquet is required for participation.

For registration forms and more information visit www.gaithersburgmd.gov/sports or call Pam Truxal at 301-258-6350. Senior Tennis participants may also register at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/recxpress.

Count us in Roy.  Debbie and I were talking the other day how we need to dust off the rackets and get out on the tennis court.

Nice that they have senior tennis.  Most of the time they are the ones that are neglected for that agen group.

Thank you for stopping by.  Your comments are always appreciated.  Gaithersburg seniors are glad to have the tennis program for those over age 50. It is not fun to compete with the youngsters.

Wow!  More beautiful flowers while we learn about tennis. Flowers are my passion, second only to real estate of course.  I tried tennis in high school and college and decided that it wasn't my sport.  Have a good evening, Roy.

Hi Roy, Tennis is a great excercise and love the idea of such affordable lessons. I used to pay $50 an hour and that was years ago, LOL. I will say this, I am sorry I ever stopped playing.
