28 Comments on Green Cay Wetlands...It's Not Just About the Gators!
Hi Kathy --- nature surprises and amazes. Great photo collage --- so much more than alligators in Green Cay Wetlands.
Good Morning Kathy, When i come down this fall the Green Cay wetlands sure looks like a great place to visit. I love your photos. Have a great Saturday.
BarbaraT- the gators have been a little scarce. I think that babies should hatch if they haven't already.
BARFF- we should! Got to go early!
Anita- the photographers there really get the most incredible shots.. they'll stand forever waiting to catch the right shot.
Sheila- trust me... I'm far away from them, and unless they put a trap door in the boardwalk, I'm ok.
Valerie- there are so many areas there that cannot be reached by us (well those of us who don't want to be eaten by the gators) but I wish I could take a look to see what's there.
Bobbie- they are actively trying to undo the harm that we did when man first decided to develop in the glades. Thank goodness.
Sally & David- I wish everyone could see this and what's amazing is that it's just 10 minutes from home.
BLiz- come down this way and you will have a personal guided tour of Green Cay.
Michael- mother nature can do that! I was startled once to see a swan sitting in the middle of the water and there was a gator slowly approaching. The swan did fly away, thank goodness. Someone told me that the swan probably flew over from one of the developments.
Scott- give me a call! I'll make sure the gators show up.
Kathy, I am always impressed with your blog posts....whether it be educating us on the newest thing, staging tips or local posts...well done
Good morning Kathy -
A great job on pointing out that Green Cay Wetlands is more than just about the gators. I saw the photo on Facebook and had to look it up in the Rain. I really like your colleague of Mother Nature.
Have a great weekend.
Kathy,
I never go anywhere without my camera now. I'm always looking for that small, unique photo to take. Of course, I'd use the telephoto for gators.
Rich
You do such a great job sharing your love of the Green Cay Wetlands, and all of the creatures who call it home. It tells me a lot about your soul - all good things. Have a wonderful weekend Kathy. D
Hi Kathy...Great Photos, I like the face in the tree, nice Capture
Cheers, gave a fun and successful day
Kathy, Green Cay Wetlands sounds like a great place to hang out and do some walking. Watching baby animals hatching would be fun, not sure about alligators though!
The dragonfly is beautiful and I love the little bit (?) sticking its head out from behind the leaves. I think people are just so fascinated with Alligators b/c of their sheer power. However, one should never under estimate the power of a spider!
Kathy,
We are all fascinated by the Alligators and their crocodile cousins. I would have happily spent two hours watching, nature just has that effect on me. A
Sounds like a great place to visit Kathy with camera in hand!
Kristin- you are too kind. But thank you very much for showing up and your support.
John (QMan)- Here’s hoping you and Debbie are enjoying your weekend!
Richard- I missed such a great opportunity the other day.. it involved 3 of the cutest dogs and their owners. I was laughing so hard I forgot to grab my camera.
Debb- I do have a soft spot for animals, even those gators(from a distance).
Fred- you won’t believe this but that lion in on a board on the boardwalk. I hope they don’t replace it!
Joan- everyone has been out looking for nests because this is the time of year for them but they’re pretty hidden.
Shannon- you’re not kidding. Did you ever hear of the recluse spider? I didn’t know about them until I went hunting with my husband and was told to watch out for them.
Alexandra- same here. I think we would have stayed but it was getting really hot and I’d gone through both batteries for my camera! Bummer.
Thanks for sharing your photographs.
Have an outstanding weekend with your camera in hand.
I ditto what Roger said....I want to walk there someday with you....the Green Cay tour guide!
IS that it's little baby in its mouth? If it is, that was well worth the couple hours waiting for that shot!
Kathy, we don't have anything like that but we have our Warner Parks that are wooded and hilly. We're more likely to see deer, owls, and the dragon flys too!
Hi Kathy. That lion face is the cutest! However, I'm a native Floridian who has never wanted to get up close and personal with an alligator, except maybe a blue and orange one!
Roy- I still say I'd love to get you down here with your camera.
Sharon- maybe next time when you visit your mom on the west coast.
Jennifer- sorry to say but that was a raccoon.
Connie- I do miss seeing the deer that we used to have in VA.
Silvia- that was one of those once in a lifetime "kodak" moments.
