How should Fla. spend $334M bank settlement? I vote give it straight to current home owners.

We all know this money is about to be blown or put into the politicians pockets.

Attorney General says she controls the money earmarked for homeowners, but Legislature claims it has jurisdiction. Read more.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is quietly feuding with the GOP-controlled Legislature over who should have a say over more than $300 million intended to help homeowners.

Florida is directly receiving $334 million as part of its share of a national $25 billion settlement with five of the nation’s largest mortgage lenders. This is separate from an estimated $8 billion also expected to go to help homeowners and borrowers in the state
.

Today's Prayer
Dear God, I need to learn to take one day at a time. Your Word reminds me, "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matthew 6:34). I give all my worries and concerns to You, God, the all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present, Almighty God. Please give me peace, grace, and wisdom for the day. Lord, I also pray for the people in this world who live in war-torn nations, poverty, unhappy homes and abusive situations. Please reach down and show them Your love, that they may know that You are God and that You care about them and will give them rest. In Jesus' name, amen.

You know the money is not going to be given out the way you suggested.

a fund should be set up to assist struggling homeowners, so that they don't end up un foreclosure as well.

Maybe it could be spent on a bunch of SPAM centers in Florida.  Those neon signs are going to be expensive.

Or donate the money to homeless shelters.  If the people have not made a payment in years, it is just a matter of time any way before they will have to go.

How about not spending it at all.  Let it stay in the bank and draw interest.  Why does every government act like they have a hole in their pockets?  The settlement was not about helping homeowners.  It was a payout to allow  bank officials off the hook.  Let's call it what it was.

Sorry, one more comment, If the money is used to "help" those homeowners in distress, the  money will go right back to the banks.  No, do nothing for a year or two and see how this all pans out.

Hi Charles, You have the right idea. Give it to those homeowners, who can use it to save their homes. BTW, Love your Daily Prayer verse too.
