I have been embarking on a journey the last two years to lose weight.  I started in May of 2011, and I began a rigorous diet that I maintained through approximately October 2011.  During this time, I lost 70 lbs. Starting at a Michaelweight of almost 280 lbs, I knew I needed to make a life change.  It took considerble discipline, and my whole life changed for the better.

However, between October 2011 and May of 2012, I abandoned the diet discipline I had worked so many months to follow.  During this time I regained 30 lbs, must to my own denial on this.  So in June, I took measures to really examine my own goals again and realized that my original goal of reaching 180 lbs I had abandoned when I reached the mark of 207 lbs.  I thought I was fine where I was, and considered that if I just maintained a normal healthy eating lifestyle again, I could maintain where I was at indefinitely.

I learned, however, that one cannot have it all.  I decided this time to address my own false information on this and strip it from my universe.  I began my diet again at the beginning of June this year, and have been on it since.  I want you to take a look at my progress by just looking at photos of my face.

The one on the left was taken in May of this year when I visited the StateMichael Capital, and I weighed approximately 235 lbs.  Also just below that on the left is a photo I took in February 2011 with the singer Matt Giraud at a fundraiser for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters in Battle Creek.

The one on the right was taken just a few days ago where I have not only lost the 30 lbs I gained, but as of this morning the day I write this I crossed below the 200 lb mark.

MichaelI am no longer embarrassed by my weight, or appearance.  I have more energy, and more importantly my own change of viewpoint and decision to educate myself further on what true healthy eating really is all about.  This has been what has made this possible for me.

I am sure if you are reading this, you are asking the question "What diet did you follow?"  Well, I have included the link to that here.  It was developed by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons and his research is complete here in this manuscript entitled "Pounds and Inches"

It has become popularly referred to as the 'HGC' diet, and was brought to national attention by author Kevin Trudeau in his book "The Weight Loss Cure".  If you are considering endeavoring on this diet yourself, I suggest you read both references.  However, you should follow Simeons manuscript directly for best results.

As with any diet, there are critics.  I have never experienced problems with the diet.  I do know that there are many brands and versions of the drops you take on the diet available.  The brand I have used throughout wasForks Over Knives inexpensive compared to the internet, and sold at a local vitamin and health food store.  That product is here: Wellgenix HGC.  There were other brands that I tried that I did not do so well on, and in my opinion this is where people have problems with it. The Wellgenix brand however is what I found to be the best of all.

One of the things that really helped me with further education this time was watching a documentary entitled: Forks Over Knives.  If you have not watched this one, it is quite eye opening.  To discover what we have been taught about food all of our lives is fundamentally flawed takes a shift in personal reality. However, if you really watch this documantary, you will come to understand why millions of Americans are overweight, have heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and all other sorts of ailments resultingMichael Delaware from dietary habits.

So my journey has been complete with victories, and set backs.  However, I do not think I would have gained the wisdom I now have about my own diet habits had I not had some losses along the way and paid some personal 'tuition'.

I have come to realize that weight loss is one thing, but seeking to cure obesity is quite another.  Dr. Simeons' research focuses on curing obesity, not just developing a new diet.  So do not confuse his manuscript with simply another diet. It was in fact developed in the 1930's, and was deliberately withheld from broad circulation as you can read about in Trudeau's book.

My failure before on this diet was that I did not personally follow through on the after diet requirements to prevent future weight gain as he explains in the manuscript.  I abandoned all that I had learned, and diverged from what was working and successful like an excited kid chasing a butterfly.

However, I know now that it took this divergence for me to truly get it this time.  The ultimate discovery of the documentary Forks Over Knives was another wonderful milestone in my own search for understanding and awareness of proper eating for health.

I am well on my way to my goal weight now, and fully intend to remain there this time.  The photo on the right here with me in front of the mirror I took just a few days ago. I hope you can see the differences.  I sure can feel them.

This article is my own efforts to reach out to my friends and family who may also have struggled with this same problem over the years, and are seeking solutions.  The information on what I did is included in the links in this article.  The journey was easy, and relatively fast.  I have now lost over 77 lbs since May of 2011, and will have lost close to 100 lbs before I am done.  No need to express anymore how life changing this has been for me.

Thanks Michael for the followup. I believe it is all this generic modified food, processed food and artificial ingredients that makes people fat. Also, judging from the overweight pompous idiots I run into, I think those chemicals also affect the intelligence capacity of those individuals as well.

Michael-Congrats on your success. I have battled weight most of my adult life. It has taken a toll on me physically. I will check out those links. I had read Kevin's book but it has been a long time. I do know that all the processed food and fast food most of us live on is killing us one day at a time.

Mike you look great! So happy for you! I also did the HCG under a DOCTOR's WEEKLY care, and it wound up costing me 18 days in the hospital, 5 surgeries, and a missing Gallbladder. I was rushed in for 2 Immediate surgeries and nearly died. It was because the doctor failed to put me on "Actigall" which was necessary because I stuck to the diet to the letter. (Even ordered the breadsticks direct from Italy!) Turns out the HCG diet can precipitate gallstones, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. The liver creates bile, which is then stored for later use in the gallbladder. When rapid weight loss occurs, the liver increases the amount of CHOLESTEROL contained in bile, which increases the risk of forming gallstones, or pebble-like structures that can prevent the healthy flow of bile and cause inflammation of the gallbladder, bile ducts, liver or pancreas. Inflammation can lead to infection, which can be fatal if left untreated.
This is because LOW CALORIE combined with LOW FAT is the basis of the HCG diet. I did lose 36 pounds in that first month, but gained back 49.....
Thank Goodness I have now found a HEALTHY way to lose weight, with a NORMAL amount of calories! Yay! I've lost 50.2 pounds and 72.25 inches in 90 days and never felt better. :)
