weekly newsEach and every week, there are things going on that impact how short sale agents (and real estate folks, in general) do their jobs. Some weeks there are big changes to things that impact the real estate world. Other weeks, there is news about government programs for distressed borrowers.

Just last week, I attended the Inman Real Estate Connect Conference (as an emissary of my local real estate board), and here I will share with you what’s trending on the real estate scene:

7 New Technology Tools These 7 new tech tools were showcased at the conference. However, while there were many tech tools discussed, the main message throughout the event is that agents should be using tools to help them, and not to slow them down. Namely… don’t let all the tech distraction get in the way of you doing your job.

Listing Syndication – To Be or Not to Be? There was a whole panel dedicated to the topic of listing syndication. That is, should your listings syndicate to Trulia, Zillow et. al? And, if you’ve been following the news, this has been a really hot topic for the last several months. Read what the CEOs and Veeps of the big syndicators had to say on the topic in this article.

Real Estate Innovators  The 2012 Innovator Awards were announced last Friday. And, if you haven’t checked out DotLoop, HomeSnap, and MobileRealtyApps, you really ought to do so. All three of these technology-related products could really change you deliver your real estate experience.

There’s lots going on in the field of real estate these days. And, if you are actively working in real estate everyday, it’s important to keep up with all of the changes in the industry. Sometimes that’s hard, which is why I've provided you with a weekly recap right here.

Great recap - wish I could have been there since Inman events are always so chock full of great information and updates.

You said - don’t let all the tech distraction get in the way of you doing your job - something for us ALL to remember, adn not get sucked into all the neat, cool stuff that we really don't need to spend money on.

The syndication issue is a tough one. My big issue is that so often things get posted on Zillow multiple times, sometimes simultaneously AND after a listing has sold or is not even on the market. It seems to be less of an issue with Trulia. Have to go read more on that topic

Great update from Inman Melissa...yes, getting sucked in as I have lately to the video perfection is causing issues for my business.  Videolicious doesn't seem different from Animoto?  What do you think?

Syndication...I want all marketing for my client even when it puts ridiculous valuations on a property because it gets people in...never have sold a property due to it & I query all buyers on it...i dislike the mindset of buyers who jump from agent to agent using these sites & will never get the representation they should deserve!

Oh, man, I'm such a cynic. Why don't they just call the 7 tech tools what they really are which is 7 new businesses that each hope to generate a lot of money by selling you more crap that you probably don't need and could easily live without?
