Hi Anita. I didn't know they had something like this. Thanks for the info. I imagine the turn out in Warner Robins GA will be terrific.
Gita...expecting packed venues.
Clint...I bet there is a qualifying event in your area.
Carol Ann...The athletes are amazing and in very good shape.
Anita, i find it hard to believe that over 50 is considered seniors...lol...all the more power to them here!
Wonderful event for us "older" folks. It is so important to squeeze in time to stay physical. Hope it is a "full house" event. So glad you are spreading the word.
Anita this sounds like a great event that I am sure will be very popular!
Anita, this would be a fun event to be held in your City! Especially on the heels of the London Olympics, nice to see us older people are staying fit!
Anita, This sounds like perfect timing with the London Olympics just ending, more and more people want to keep the games going and why not the 50 and over crowd too!
One is never to old to be physically fit to live a longer life. Go America
Anita, this is a great opportunity to compete, get some exercise and have fun. Great event!
This event should be copied by every community in the country.
Have an outstanding week.
No excuses left... Get off the sofa and on the move! Great job Anita -
Anita - how great is it that the 50+ community gets to participate in the 2012 Georgia Golden Olympics! What a great incentive to stay fit while having fun!
LOL, Anita, I find it hard to consider a 50-year old a Senior, but ask my 20-something kids and I'm sure they would say, "oh yeah!" Georgia Golden Olympics - love it!! Wish I lived in Georgia!
Sharon
I too am incensed to think 50 is a Senior - lol. Just kidding. This a cool local post and so timely. Fitness is the best preventative to the diseases of old age.
Sounds like a great event Anita! We see alot of seniors out walking, running and bike riding. Yep, they're fit!
Seniors are not old these days, Anita; they are into fitness and health and that's great. This looks like a fun event.
Good afternoon Anita.
Living in a community 50+ is great.
Being active, and being fit is a quality of life issue.
2012 Georgia Golden Olympics
Ginny...I know and I will qualify soon! I better get more active. HA.
Bobbie...there will be lots of participants and hand-clappers too. ;-)
Bill...it's a big build-up to the national games next summer. You can't go to national if you don't qualify in one of these regional events.
Joan...some are ultra-fit and most take the event seriously.
Larry/Sheila...watching the folks in their 80s/90s perform at a high level is so fun to see.
I agree Harry...we need to take care of the body we have been blessed with.
It is all 3 of those and more Michael.
I couldn't agree more Roy!
John...that's all it takes, baby steps, and soon folks would be ready to compete.
Kristine...and with so many varied events there is bound to be something everyone can excel at.
Sharon...my girls are in their 20s and both called me old this past week. LOL Their time will come!
Debb...it really is. The participating "seniors" are in excellent mental health.
Al/Peggy...a little a day is all it takes but so many don't take that first step.
Toni...absolutely true. I know folks in their 60s/70s who look fantastic and really take care of themselves.
Joshua...no substitute for good health.
Anita, I am so glad I scrolled through your posts to find this one. Sounds like fun. I will miss the event in Warner, GA, but Cleveland, Ohio is just 100 miles from Erie so it is now on our calendar for next summer. Best part we have relatives in Cleveland to visit. No, I won't compete, but will have fun watching and cheering.
Mary: You won't regret it. There will be some very good athletes at the National Games. Thanks for scrolling through my blog...always appreciated! ;-)
