(I totally borrowed this idea from my blogging buddy Cindy Westfall who writes the best Random Thoughts .. I hope she wont mind)
"Andrea, I wish you could change the commission split" said my client last night "You did 80% of the work so you should get 80% of the pay". Yes, I should.. after a week of chasing signatures and giving the other side an opportunity to correct their mistake ... and another .. meeting them more than half way just to get things done, I certainly did the lion's share.
But the commission remains what it is. No going back after it's done and it's clear who earned what and who didn't. That's just the way it works. You offer to compensate in the beginning regardless how much was actually cooperated at the end.
At least my little Scotch tape thingy is cooperating with me. On another - totally random note - this has got to be one of the greatest inventions, tonight anyway. You know the one that you slip around your finger those freeing that hand and making it possible to hold down the wrapping paper while pulling the tape with the other? No.. "hubby I need your help here for a sec".. I can do it all by myself.. and I'm actually just as proud as my 3 year old when she pulls something off for the very first time.
Now why is it that those almost-but-not-quite-square presents are the hardest to wrap? I suppose I could just put it into a gift bag but tearing off the paper is half the fun of unwrapping presents.
Almost like a little rehab.. now what will we find under the layer of laminate? Oh, a layer of vinyl! And look what's underneath the layer of vinyl .. a layer of vinyl! Those surprise elements make a little renovation quite fun, don't you think?
I've been wrapping presents for the past couple of hours or so. The pile of presents is slowly getting taller and I'm realizing that it won't all fit into that bin like I had imagined. Somehow I have to make it fit though. We still need to hide the presents for another week and sneak said bin onto vacation with us.
Speaking of which .. we are off to a week of bliss and peace and quiet and fun and giggles. Courtesy of my friend Mike Cooper. That's a blog, however, that still needs to be written .. time is running out and I have a ton to prepare! Better get to it,
