NEW LAKESIDE FESTIVAL FOR EAST OF LAKE WASHINGTON BUT CLOSE AS THE FREEWAYS!   Hmmm... that didn’t work out too well this weekend with all the bridge and freeway closures.  But it didn’t prevent tens of thousands of people from discovering us, learning how easy it was to find parking (most of it free!), experiencing outstanding music events (without extra costs!), enduring 80-ish temperatures with balmy breezes, et al.  For me the musical highlight was the Salsa songs and dancing.   Even restricted by my volunteer duties I still loved it!

ALERT!  ALERT!  ALERT!  During the two (2) days of fun in the sun THERE WAS A REPORT of a VERY unhappy camper.....     the guy didn’t know there was no place to park a 30-foot RV w/trailer and was VERY disgruntled (as opposed to dat-grunting?) by the experience.  BUT I did see him later with a beer in one hand, a smile on his face and a happy female person with her arms wrapped around him.  Gotta love happy endings!

Every so often I was encouraged to take breaks (to get me to shut up?  Hmmm...) so I’d go out and about exploring.  And wherever I went there were happy, smiling people in abundance.  Laughter and happiness seemingly everywhere!  

So the Kirkland Summerfest breakthrough event is now throughout the web as “The” experience on the Eastside not to miss - next time.  Now they have light-years of experience in event planning and execution to draw from.  Yet even so, I must say they did an absolutely remarkable job of pulling this off.  Kudos to you one and all.  Stay tuned for more updates here in AR and elsewhere as the week develops (and visuals become more available!).
