Where To Live In TallahasseeIf you are new to our area and want to know where to reside in Tallahassee, you might want to explore where other people are living.

In the past, I wrote The Five Star Guide To Tallahassee Neighborhoods as an in-depth review of the most active neighborhoods in Tallahassee, so this report is merely an update to see where people are now choosing where to reside in Tallahassee.

Where To Reside In Tallahassee

A study of our current residents is a great start in deciding where to buy a home in Tallahassee.

What you will quickly find is that we are spread out all over the place. Thus far in 2012, people have purchased homes in 480 different neighborhoods (out of the 1,250 different neighborhoods measured in the Tallahassee MLS).

Ten percent of all buyers chose one of the top 3 selling Tallahassee neighborhoods (Killearn Estates, Killearn Lakes and Southwood).

The next most popular neighborhoods, Bull Run, Golden Eagle Plantation, Piney Z, Killearn Acres, and Ox Bottom Manor are all located in Northeast Tallahassee.

Deciding Where To Reside In Tallahassee

Currently, when deciding where to reside in Tallahassee, more people are heading north than ever before. Nearly 80% of all homebuyers chose a home on the northern side of Tallahassee last year.

Where To Live In Tallahassee Graph

The glut of homes for sale in Tallahassee, combined with historic low interest rates have allowed home buyers to enjoy the best home affordability rates in more than 10 years.

It is no big surprise they are choosing to get the most for their money, and they are choosing to live in the neighborhoods that have been most popular during recent times.

If you really want to know where to buy a home in Tallahassee, you should work with somebody who studies more than just school reports and transportation issues. When you combine those simple elements to a thorough real estate market report, trends emerge showing where to find the best value in the Tallahassee real estate market. And finding that "best value" means paying less money for more home.

We would love to help you find your next home. If you want our assistance in deciding where to reside in Tallahassee, just drop me a note and we can help you match your needs and desires to the best real estate buys in Tallahassee.

I always find it interesting when somebody is moving to a new area and literally has no idea where they want to live.  Typically where they work or have friends already narrows it down, a list like this of what to think about definitely helps focus what is important in deciding a neighborhood to live in.

When moving to Baton Rouge back in the day, I did an "in-law" map. The goal was to be at least three miles from any red dot on the map :)
