Today I discovered something about blogging on ActiveRAin.  No, I haven't discovered anything new on my own.  I'm simply taking lessons from a few of the . . . . .

MASTER BLOGGER MEMBERS OF ACTIVERAIN.Lenn

You know who they are - Barbara, Debbie, Jeff, Kathy, Jay and a few other ActiveRain friends who have mastered the Business of Blogging - for Business.

While I am dedicated to blogging on a regular basis, I do tend to stray from my core purpose for blogging which is simply BLOGGING FOR BUSINESS.

Oh, sure.  I love the back and forth with ActiveRain friends.  I comment daily and often many times in a day.  I probably read 25 plus blog posts a day.  I subscribe to 411 members and read them regularly when they post.

If there is an important, timely real estate matter in the news, I'm likely to post about it here.

GET BACK TO WORK.  However, I've neglected "WORKING" many neighborhoods in my market area and tended to concentrate in the small area around my base which is Loudoun County, VA.  I do often travel many miles to show and sell real estate.  Shucks, I've been selling in the MD and VA market for so many years I could map them blind folded.

Just this past Friday, I showed properties to one of my long time home buyers in La Plata, VA, 90 miles and 2 hours from my base.  Not a problem.  I know they will buy a home, their 3rd with me and it's my pleasure to help them.  They help me stay on top of Charles County real estate where I've sold many, many homes over the years.

BACK TO WORK.  I'm getting back to WORK doing what I need to do to pump up my Google presence.

Since I don't have home listings to advertise, I concentrate on communities, home types, demographics, local points of interest and what ever strikes my fancy about an area.

Woodbridge, Virginia is my location for a blogging adventure today.

Why Woodbridge??
Why not??  Some things to note about Woodbridge, VA, it is DYNAMIC in terms of real estate.  In fact, the deeper I get in my exploration of the details, attractions, features of Woodbridge, the more I discover to write about.

New Homes to sell.
A variety of established communities to sell.
Waterfront properties.
A variety of Parks and Recreation areas.
Shopping to satisfy everyone.
Discount and Luxury shopping areas.

I'm planning to report on several communities in Woodbridge before I move on to another location.  Plenty of time.

Lenn, I started blogging in 2009 and have yet to run out of ideas to write about. I plan to write more community posts and the phone rings when I do. Of course, I have been busy with buyers this summer and many times I have posted and ran off to work. I enjoyed your post, it has great information about what works!

Gary.  Indeed.  We need the discipline to do just that.  Business doesn't grow on trees.

Wanda.  I've never run out of material either.  Thank goodness.

Fernando.  I confess.  I've been slacking off.  I realized it last Friday when I saw that I had only posted 2 posts for the week.  I was out all weekend but it's time to get back to work.

Love this port Lenn.  I find myself blogging for business first, and then blogging for comments and features second.  Unlike so many others, I have time on my hands.  While my wife and I are both productive and doing well in our real estate careers, we have no kids at home, and there are two of us.  I have time for blogging for biz and for fun!

Lenn,

there are some writers that make their business creations so very interesting and some times self revealing. After reading this post, I certainly feel that I know a little more about Lenn Harley the person... AND I can see why I would choose you to find me a home in Woodbridge, VA. Your knowledge of the area shines through your other posts too. Thanks for sharing.

I am, self-admittedly, a scattered blogger.  I rarely "blog for business", and yet business finds me in the way of referrals from other Active Rain agents.

nice.

I had the same feeling this summer when I was so busy with buyers I was neglecting my blogging and I made a promise to myself right then that I would get back to doing community blogs and posting on neighborhoods.  Consumers want to know what is out there so if we want the business we should be blogging to get it--nice reminder

Lenn:

No doubt about it.  It is hard to maintain the balance between blogging for business and doing the business.  Either one or the other takes precedence for me during a month.

Great reminders and ideas about local blogging. I checked out your other blogs on your area and the homes on the market. They are great examples and I hope it drives lots of business your way!

As I said, Woodbridge is very popular and I go there 3 or 4 times a week.

There are many reasons for that business there, but price may be the biggest factor.

Jared.  Same here.  Lots of time and I start every early.  I enjoy blogging so there's no stress or pressure.

Richard,  Good for you.

Richie.  Thank you sir.

Brad.  Thanks very much.  I am a research animal and it helps me understand the matter of real estate brokerage, which is a far more dynamic force than many realize.

Deb.  Get busy.

Alan.  You may not be blogging for business, but your ability and ethics are clear.

Marilyn.  Same here.  Let's get busy.

Evelyn.  There is a synergy and once we understand it and Google, it's just a matter of discipline.

Tiffany.  I hope so too.

Nan.  I try.  I'll check your blog too.

Jay.  It's more than that.  Location for the price is a big factor.

I have been a firm believer in blogging ever since the trend started way back when.  It works, but I have been terribly negligent the past couple of years.   I'm climbing back on the blogging wagon today and hope to see the results soon!
