The Inspiration House by Scott Homes, in Olympia WA, is very well named - learning about all of the energy efficiency built into this beautiful home is truly inspirational. We visited it this past weekend, and it will be open for viewing during the upcoming Olympia Master Builder's Tour of Homes 2012. The tour of homes hours are 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, August 18th & 19th and 25th & 26th.
The Inspiration House is located at 1402 13th Ave SE, Olympia, and WOW is it jampacked with craftsmanship, sustainable products, attention to detail - and oh yes, energy efficiency. Estimated heating costs for the home are less than $200 per year! The ductless heat pump is a big part of this efficiency, and it heats, cools and dehumidifies the whole house from one unit on the main floor of the home. There is a solar powered hot water heater, and a heat recovery ventilator to keep the home's occupants breathing easy with great indoor air quality.
The rain garden included in the landscaping is also a wonderful mixture of an environmentally friendly solution to urban runoff and sheer natural beauty to enjoy.
