Looking for a Virginia Winery to Visit?  Try Narmada.

After a couple hours at a less than riveting Dukes of Hazzard event in Amissville, VA this weekend, my friend (Marilyn) and I decided to hit a local winery.  Anyone who knows me knows I work my tail off day in and day out.  Marilyn works even harder than me, if you can even imagine that.  She's always going.  So we decided that we needed a day this weekend to do something completely different and mellow.  It started with the Hazzard Homecoming and ended at Narmada Winery.  I think we should've just gone to the winery and stayed there.

Inside the winery were some comfy couches and bar tables where you could enjoy your wine and the music of a one man band with an acoustic guitar.  Ahhhh.  Feel that stress melting away?  We decided, since Marilyn's grandchildren were in tow, to sit on the deck outside where the kids could be kids.  The picture you see was our view.  The kids arranged deck chairs into train configurations and let their imaginations run wild.  Marilyn, her husband and I sipped our wine, munched on a cheese and fruit plate and just took in the view and the perfect summer breeze.  We even limited our real estate talk to fifteen minutes. Impressive for two work-a-holics like us.

I was reading on Narmada's website today that they boast a bit of Indian culture in the total experience.  While I didn't pick up on that subtlety, I can tell you I did thoroughly enjoy myself and the wine.  We had a white called Mom.  It was sweet and perfectly delightful.

If you make it out to Virginia and want to see some fantastic views and mellow out with a glass of wine, I recommend stopping by the Narmada Winery.

Hi Chris Ann - And I bet you're going to use the kids as an excuse for why you were at a Dukes of Hazzard event, right? I'd definitely need something like a winery after that - glad it was a good one. I'll definitely put it on my list for the next time I'm cruising the Virginia countryside.

Sounds like such a relaxing time, Chris Ann...I'm so glad you were able to enjoy it!  I finally said to H&#! with it and took off to Charleston SC for the weekend with my husband.  We all need to get away and have a relaxing time to re-energize.  This winery looks awesome!

What a beautiful view and what a wonderful job you did, Chris Ann, in capturing that view. It's so picture perfect, with the winding road and manicured fields to the clouds against a blue backdrop. Narmada almost sounds like Narnia.

Dick:  Not at all.  The kids were hauled off to the event against their will.  Grandma Marilyn got a last minute babysitting request.

Melissa:  Charleston, SC is one of those places on my wish list to see.  Never been.

Will:  I wanted to hit the Napa Valley on a trip to California years ago, but we kept finding other stuff to do.

Scott:  The Dukes of Hazzard event was a stitch.  Such an odd collection of events and visitors.  The winery was like snapping back into reality.

Al:  It certainly is a great place to unwind and relax.

Elizabeth:  Off in the distance there were guests with small kids that kept jumping in the lake.  We asked if that was allowed, because Marilyn's grandkids wanted to do the same thing.  Needless to say, that was NOT allowed and someone from the staff drove down and put an end to the frollicking in the water.

Carol Ann:  What's not to love, right?

Connie:  People in our profession should take frequent opportunities for down time.
