The best words on the planet!
Be of service! The rewards will come!

Ray, this is so often overlooked. Great Post and a Great Reminder to be thankful.
Connor with Honor
I would like to Thank all of you for your very kind words!!!
Ray, you are so right - we were all taught this as kids, and we manage to overlook/forget as we age. Thanks for the reminder.
Ray, great post. Saying thank you is absolutely critical. So is the corollary, saying "You're welcome" Too often people say thank you and our knee jerk reaction is to say "Thank you" back (start listening for it) My unofficial average would be that about 15-20% say "you're welcome." other responses are "yeah" "sure" "take care" "unh hunh" and "have a good day" or "I'll see you at x o'clock".
I've instituted a new program. Handwritten thank yous for every appointment. I'm ordering the cards in bulk: http://www.thegallerycollection.com/prudent.nsf/CardWeb2?OpenForm&isection=a_thankyou&start=1
Since I started systematically several weeks prior, I've gotten every listing appointment I've been on. I'm sending five-ten a day. Here's a fun one, send one to a friend you see often, thanking them for their friendship, send one to the receptionist in your office(theres a tough job), send one to your escrow officer, send one to your broker, manager, owner. Send some to your Association staff and board members, city officials, people from the newspaper. The response is unbelievable.
I'll leave you with this: How many folks print out e-mails and pin them to the wall? How many people print out e-mails and stand them up on their desks? I sent a thank you to my broker when I joined the office. He had the note behind his desk for 2 years. Each time I went in I was reminded of how important it was. Trash the e-mail thank you, for the sake of humanity, and your business.
Create singularity, give thanks, get noticed, set yourself apart.
I was raised to send Thank You notes, to say thank you to stand when an adult came into the room and if someone called my name the answer was I'm coming and my feet were moveing. What I do not understand is What happened to Your Welcome? Now you here "no problem" well I never thought it was. Or a server at the cafe' will respond "No Thank You", well where does that leave me? Do I say thank you again and if I do where will it end??? Sorry I went off there I'm better now.

Carol Z, You are very welcome. and thank you for stopping by.
Matt, Thank you for your additional information and link.
Carol B, You didn't go off at all and we all see a change in common courtesy. Thank you.
Ray Thank you for the post! It really is important to say those two little words. I keep a stash of note cards on my desk so that I'm constantly reminded to send them. I think it's a "best practice" for Realtors.
Hi RAY!!! Happy NEW YEAR!!! THANK YOU for all the encouragement you've sent my way in 2007!!! Your post is so apropos. Julie Neerings also wrote a post that was featured this month highlight that this is the month to say, thank you! You two were on it!
I've always seen your manners shine through very professionally - we can all learn from you! GBU!
