The Active Rain Challenge which highlights what you do for your clients, either buyers or sellers, has produced some really good posts from members. It’s been fun and educational to read about the many steps agents take to get their clients through the buying or selling process successfully.
I thought about writing about buyers, because I like them a lot. They are always happy and excited to be getting a new home. Working with buyers is a lot of fun and I do a lot for them! But then, I thought I might focus on sellers, because there is so MUCH that an agent has to do to help them sell their homes. I certainly do a lot for my sellers as well!
In the end, I decided to write about some of the little things I do for both buyers and sellers that help to get the transaction completed, and keep everyone happy.
If something needs to be done, I’ll do it.
Do you need help getting your home ready to show? I have been known to help clean up the house, move furniture around, and bake cookies for an open house. If a client has a dog that needs to be out of the house during showings, I’ll go get him and take him for a walk while the potential buyers look.
Do you need me to open up the house so your pet can check out the potential new house? Yep, I’ll do that also! I sold a house one time because I was willing to let the potential buyer’s dog come in and try out the stairs.
Are you new in town? You can count on me to take you on a tour of local hot spots and neighborhoods so you will know your way around better.
Do you need to find a contractor to fix that AC, install new carpet, or repair those leaky faucets? I’ve got contacts you can call. I’ll even call them for you to get bids if you need me to. And, there have been many times that I have met the contractor at the house because the owner couldn’t take off work.
Are you selling your house because you are going through a family life change? I am a good listener. You can tell me about the divorce, your aging parents, your disabled child, or the loss of your loved one. I will understand, and will listen as long as you need me to.
Do you have a short fuse when it comes to negotiating? Don’t worry, I am very patient and can stay calm even during the most intense situations. You can count on me to work through the deal steadfastly, and professionally, always keeping your best interests in mind.
And…the little things don’t stop once closing is over.
Need someone to meet the cable guy at your new house while you’re at work? I can do that! Or, I can meet the appliance delivery people, or the furniture delivery people, or be there for the builder to do some last minute touch-ups. I’ll be there for you, even after the sale.
When the deal is over, if you ask my clients what they liked best about working with me, chances are they will say it is because I went above and beyond…even on the little things!
After all…it’s the little things that count!
