Bunko Rules & Scoring: Play at Your Next Party!

Welcome To Bunko!

I have posted the rules below and although they may look daunting do not be discouraged. It is actually a really easy and fun game and great for icebreakers in party situations.

Setup:

-          3 tables with 4 people at each table

-          Your teammate is the person sitting across from you

-          3 dice at each table

-          1 score person at each table

-          Scorecards for every player

Basic Rules:

There are four rounds.  Each round consists of 6 games.  The first game everybody is trying to roll ones, the second round twos, and so on. In the first game you score points by rolling ones.  If you roll at least 1 one you get to roll again.  Each time you roll a one the score person gives your team a point.  When someone rolls 3 ones or someone gets to 35 points, the round is over.  The losing team changes tables (or the winning team, depending on the rules of the table you are at).

Table One: Loser's go to Table 3, Winner's stay put.

Table Two: Winner's go to Table 1, Loser's stay put.

Table Three: Winner's go to Table 2, Loser's stay put.

There is also another way to earn points.  Traveling is when you roll 3 of the same number, but the number is for another round.  For example, say you are in the middle of round 1 and someone rolls 3 threes.  This is traveling and counts for 5 points.  The roller gets to keep rolling.

This is it!  That’s all there is to it!  If you didn’t understand my instructions, don’t worry as there will probably be at least one person in your group who has played before!

Scoring:

When the round is over, the score person counts up each team’s points and each person records it on their scorecard (see below).

 Prizes:

The categories that typically win money at the end of all 4 rounds are the winner (the person with the most amount of points), the loser (the person with the least amount of points), the person with the most travels, and the person with the most bunkos.

Sometimes it is wise to say that no one can win more than one category.

If two people are tied for one of these categories, they have a roll off and whoever gets 3 of any number first wins.

The people with the last bunko and the last travel win “white elephant” gifts that the host provides (less than $5 each).

 Ante:

The ante can be anywhere from $5 to $25. Whatever you want, really.

 Payouts:

Winner (with most points): $30

Loser (with least points): $10

Most Bunkos: $25

Most Travels: $15

Last Bunko: Gift

Last Travel: Gift

Even/Even: This is variable, whoever gets it first gets the whole pot, but each week we will put $10 in it.

Current Host: $20 (to offset cost of food, etc)

Next Host: $10 (to pay for “white elephant” gifts)

That’s it! You’re ready to play Bunko. Have fun & good luck!
